Anybody experience (IMO) large overnight battery drain on their Z30 device?
    I lose about 18-20% overnight (~7hrs).

Most of the battery drain is coming from:
    Settings: 11%
    Standby: 4.4%
    System: 3.4%
    PIM Services: 1.4%

My LG G2 only loses about 4-5% overnight.

I sometimes experience this too. Normally it comes down after a reboot or reset using both volume buttons.

Then the over night drain is between 1% and 3% in 7 hours.

All on my Z30 using 10.3.2.798.

While I don't reboot my device on a daily basis, I usually do it at least once a week.
I've been seeing this problem for awhile now. Will a daily reboot help?

How do you reset using the 2 volume buttons? My phone just takes a screenshot.

Yeah. Way too much. Take SD card out if you have it. Check for drain the following night.

Try turning data services off while you're sleeping. It's not like you will need it, and your device will drain less battery if all your data hungry apps are fasting. This is what I do and usually it only drains about 9 or 10%.

You have to hold down the volume up and down buttons until the phone reboots.

My BlackBerry went from huge battery drain to being able to self charge in the middle of the night.

Not really though... must be a glitch because I went to bed with probably around 85% but it only registered 75%.

Is there any difference between resetting with the volume buttons vs the power button? Around 11% drain overnight, doing a reset seems to have helped.

I used to reset about twice a week. I guess I'll make it a daily habit.

    1. Power button Restart = Just restarting the device. Doesn't shut off every service and reboots.
    2. Volume buttons Soft Reset = Same as Hard Reset for removable battery devices, same as "battery pull". Wipes caches, wipes loaded memory (just turning off stuff loaded and running, not deleting stuff off system RAM), and shuts down all apps and services, then restarts the device. It's normal for the device to be sluggish and glitchy once booted back up for up to 5 minutes, as all caches are rebuilt and apps and services are loaded back up into running memory.

    Ahh... thanks!
It seems like I have only been performing reboots and not hard resets. Guess I'll do those more often!

Shouldn't people be charging their phone while they're sleeping? It's really common sense.

I have done a bit of analysis. In 12 hours period the battery drains by 70%, that makes it 6% every hour. I don't know whether it is a stable rate. One thing is when I bought the new phone and it got upgraded from 10.2 to 10.3.1, phone was discharging at around 20% per hour. I did security wipe after upgrade and it got better....

Sure, maybe, but I find that your comment is irrelevant. The issue is battery drain, not my charging habits.
If I'm losing 20% over 6-7hrs without using the phone, think how much battery I have available for the day even with a full charge in the morning.

That's still very poor. Should be about 1% per hour when just idling.

Lost 18% over about 7.5-8hrs last night.
What's the Android Player? Seems to use quite a bit of battery.

Android Player is the Android runtime shell that lets you use Android apps on BB10.
Generally, it doesn't use hardly any resources, unless you are actively running an Android app.
Do you have an Android app that is running active all the time or in the background?

Thanks, didn't know that. I do have a couple such as Whatsapp that I have allowed to run when minimized. Would disallowing it affect how I receive my messages?

I believe it would effect the ability to received messages, but as I do not use that app I can't say for sure.
You could try it to see what happens.

WhatsApp is native app. Look elsewhere or post screen shot to this thread after following instructions given.

I find the best way to troubleshoot this is to go to the 'memory' tab and close any and all android apps that are running in the background. If you have headless apps they will also waste battery.

BlackBerry 10 has some poor 'idle' battery management I find..

No I never turn it off because I rely on my phones alarm.

Sometimes I use the bedside mode, then the battery drain is about 3-4% after 8 hours of sleep.

Ah yeah. 4% in 8 hours seems feasible. But you said earlier 1% in 7hrs which I thought was way too optimistic unless you turn radios off.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned airplane mode for at night. That surly would bring down battery drain wouldn't it?
