Has anyone help both the Z30 and Nexus 5 in your hands? My husband just got his N5 two days ago and it doesn't look or feel as big as I thought it would for the size of screen. The size is what has been keeping me from considering the Z30 so if it feels the same, I may actually get one. Just curious if anyone has held both and what your thoughts are?

Best thing to do is to go and try it for yourself. Go with your husband or just his phone or even without it. The look and feel is always very personal thing.

I know, but no Z30s in the US. I can't test anything.

The biggest difference will be the 130g vs 170g IMO. You will feel the extra 1.5 ounces that the Z30 has over the N5

I have both and the Z30 is bigger and heavier. They definitely don't feel the same in the hand.

    Here are specs for Z30:

You can make it your weekend project to make a paper box with Z30s dimensions and fill it with sand for the weight

That makes me a little sad. I wanted to be ok with the Z30 size but if it's bigger than the N5, it's too big for me. Shallow women's pant pockets are very limiting!

Yes. It won't be for everyone, unfortunately. The big difference in weight is the battery. The Nexus probably won't get you through a work day but the Z30 will get you through a whole Calendar day and then some.

Z30 also seems more robust to me. Together with the battery life, a great choice.

I think it depends on your hands and feel. Best to try both. For me it easy enough to use the Z30 one handed or two. The Z30 is only slightly larger than the Z10, but heavier. It feels...solid, and personally I like that.

The weight doesn't bother me. In fact, I'd prefer a heavier device versus one that feels flimsy. It's more the size. It won't fit into women's pant pockets easily and also hard to operate one handed with lady hands. It would be nice if they made one closer to size of the Z10 with similar features. I will definitely try it out when I can get my hands on one here in the US.

Interesting. I hear there's a lot of inconsistency with the battery. BGR lists it as the N5's worst feature - claiming they usually need to charge it twice during the day to get to early evening. Yours looks quite good.

My husband has only had his N5 for a few days and the battery has lasted 12-14 hours with heavier than usual usage (you know, initial excitement for a new device).

I'll echo the weight points. The z30 is and feels heavier. Initially I thought the nexus 5 felt cheap due to the lightness but you get used to it. I do want to get a case for it though to pay it safe.

Have to say though that I wish the nexus 5 was a bit bigger as with my hands I find it a little small. The z30 feels easier to type on. Even the nexus 4 felt bigger (and I think it was).

In terms of battery, I have to say it is about as I expected coming from a nexus 4. Better but not as good as the z30.

Anyways, quite happy with the nexus 5 so far.

One thing I noticed on my friends n5 today is that the camera lens sticks proud of the case... I wouldn't want to place it back down and scratch it.

The lens has a raised rim (pun intended) so no more chance of hurting it than any other lens screen.

Both phones have great things going for them. I've touched the Z30 but not the N5. The Z30 will be fine for me size/weight wise but that's me. I suspect after reading lots about both phones that the Z30 battery will last longer. The N5 more apps for now.
If you're happy with your Q and Z then you know what to expect software wise. The Miracast, 4 mics, and stereo speakers are what's driving me to get a Z30 in a couple of weeks. The N5 is interesting if you're looking for a change of course, looks really nice.
