I'm not sure about availability, hopefully someone else can chime in. Can you please tell me which Japanese carrier(s) uses band 1 for LTE, so that I could update the first post?

ofutur, would you happen to have the uplink and downlink frequency ranges for the UMTS 800 band for -1,2,5 and 6? I'm trying to figure out if the UMTS 800 band in these models is band 6, 19, or 20, and the FCC website is down.
LTE band
Uplink
(mhz)Downlink
(mhz)6 830 - 840 875 - 885 19 830 - 845 875 - 890 20 832 - 862 791 - 821
Oh I meant do you have any information about which UMTS 800 band is present in the Z30, considering "UMTS 800"--the way they list it in the spec sheet--could be band 6,19, or 20.
Hehe, I read your post too quickly and listed the LTE bands anyway...
Most versions have band 5/6 which is 850/800.
Band 6 UMTS uses the same frequencies as band 6 LTE. 20 is not used and 19 is for Japan
They all do (3 main ones).
au
NTT Docomo
Softbank
Yeah...band 5 is what I thought. But since -6 seems to have the Japanese LTE band, I was wondering if the UMTS 800 band in there was the NTT DoCoMo compatible band 19.
Bands 6 and 19 aren't that drastically different in range, anyways. 6 covers all but 2.6 MHz of band 19's range.
Thank you Raino for your replay.
There are 3 main carriers in Japan :
NTT DOCOMO
KDDI (AU)
Softbank
About LTE, band1 is supported by All carriers.
Band18 by KDDI
Band19, 21 by NTT DOCOMO
And band3 will be supported soon (this month at main cities like Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya) by NTT DOCOMO.
So that I want -6 supports band 1 and 3.

Correct, -2 used to have band 1, but it got removed and they've created the -6 instead.
I'm wondering why they didn't just keep one LTE pentaband model...

And I've checked the FCC data again for the -5 and it's band 4, not 1

This doesn't make sense...
From the FCC site:
RGB141LW - Sprint
LTE: 25
CDMA: 0, 1
UMTS: 2, 5
GSM: 850, 1900
RFX101LW - Verizon
LTE: 4, 13
CDMA: 0, 1
UMTS: 2, 5
GSM: 850, 1900
That's exactly what I see in the OS, minus the bands they don't bother testing.
The only difference between what I have and what's been published so far is that they've switched model number for Argos and AstroX and they've turned off one band on Astro.
I got band 1 from RIM's S&PI, a .pdf which you can view here. Bands are listed on page 2 (bottom third of the left hand column.)
The Verizon bands from your list seem to match what I saw in the FCC docs, so that's good.
Re: RGB141LW, I'm pretty sure they said it has the 800 MHz CDMA band in addition to bands 0 and 1. I saw numbers and a sentence comparing the 141LW and 101LW that said the former has this additional band. Of course, I can't find this .pdf now, and didn't save it then :cant-watch:
so is the category similar to Z10? means that GSM model is STA-001 and LTE model is STA-002?
As far as we know, they're all LTE capable (like the Q10, and unlike the Z10.)
I've tried to read this thread, honestly, but I'm confused. I purchased a z30 yesterday SIM free from clove in the UK. I travel a lot to mainland China. Will this phone work? I'm not bothered about LTE etc I just need a phone signal for voice and a data signal 2g/3g will be fine.
I'm also going to Florida on holiday in a few months time. I suppose the same question needs to be asked..
Thanks.

if you travel to europe and asia (except china) you will be save with 3G/GSM model or LTE model. China tend to use more CDMA/TDMA system so may be different, but that depends on how you roam (usually sim card has own provider/roaming alliance).
not familiar with US market, but the closest GSM system in US is probably T mobile and AT&T.
So if you travel around the world, get the STA100-1. if not available, then get STA100-2.
when traveling I normally don't roam, I normally buy a local SIM and divert my Skype in number to it. I travel a lot in China so I really need to ensure the z30 covers my needs.

Wow nice info.

you better check what provider's using GSM in china, etc. personally i think GSM models (either 3.4G or 4G/LTE) is safest bet, as world phone.
The FCC document is explicit, so someone chose the wrong band when putting together the document or the FCC filing will be updated at some point.

This place looks like it's selling the -6: BlackBerry Z30 (Unlocked) Black
Thank you ! I sent email to confirm if the model is STA100-6.
Bought My Z30 from carphone warehouse it is a STA 100-2 UK version unlocked,
Tried on all networks no problems.
Can I use it in EU?STA100-2: AT&T, Telus, Koodo,Virgin Canada, Fido, Bell (all 3G/HSPA+) T-Mobile USA(3G/HSPA+ only in UMTS 1900 areas,) Bell, Virgin Canada, Rogers, Fido (LTE only in LTE 2600 areas.)
Do you know? I just want to check before I get one!
Thanks!
Yes, it's the EU-LTE model, just like the Z10-2
