seems like the STA-1 variant is the one for AT&T and T-Mobile (LTE 2,4,5 [both] and LTE 17 for AT&T) and STA-3 is Verizon

I also find it interesting that there is no variant with 4 & 7 band together, since Rogers' LTE Max is supposed to be LTE 7 (2600 MHz), as well as Bell's new upcoming LTE spectrum. Seems like they should've just added LTE 7 to STA-1
-5 is the one you want it has bands 4,5,7

Not sure what you guys are talking about but I posted a link to a company in the USA. Was I right to assume that won't work for Rogers LTE?

It seems strange to me that that site would allow you to pick your carrier but only list one model. Perhaps they do offer different version depending on the carrier selected....

Why didn't BlackBerry keep the models same???? I bought the same model number for my Q10 than I had for my Z10 for AT&T and now I don't have LTE. Not that it matters for day to day out why didn't they keep it simple?? If AT&T uses 100-3 then it's should be ___-100-3 for all models. I didn't know at the time so if anyone else buys an unlocked device it's a gamble if you didn't know.
Now BlackBerry is selling unlocked devices online and it says on BlackBerry?s site unlocked for AT&T and T-Mobile so it's a gambling whether or not ull get LTE unless you know your LTE bands. that's sucks. I called AT&T and asked for all the 4G and LTE bands and the lady didn't know so how are people gonna know??

Agreed, but the problem is that not all models have that many versions, so if you want a cheap Qwerty, you'll have to figure out which Kopi prototype on eBay is for North America.

Who made AT&T the global flagship/reference carrier? Lol. AFAIK, Rogers is the only carriers that can use the 100-3 for both Z10 and Q10. Besides, if someone is buying from anywhere but the carrier, it's the buyer's responsibility to research and ensure he's buying the right model.

The lady you spoke with must have been an *****, because AT&T's webpages for their phones have technical specs, including bands listed. As far as the BB website gamble, I would call them prior to purchasing to make sure when they say "compatible with T-Mobile and AT&T" they aren't talking about just on 2G

I've just checked the official doc your provided since both 1 and 4 are 2100Mhz and it seems you're right. So it must be that they're just testing wifi interferences without caring too much about the band itself, but just the frequency.

Looks like the Verizon variant, RFX101LW as ofutur mentioned, has passed the FCC and the data on it unembargoed:

BlackBerry Z30 for Verizon appears at the FCC (PhoneArena.com)

Please update the specs in your list.

BTW: Can someone tell from the FCC data whether this device will support HSPA on non-US frequencies? I didn't dig into it further. This has always been the Achilles Heel of the Verizon BB10 devices, in addition to the LTE limitations.

I'll check the FCC docs and let you know. Typically, they list all US bands, regardless of which carrier the phone is bound for. Thanks for posting.

Right, but the frequencies used by HSPA are typically the same as the ones used by UMTS, but UMTS support does not guarantee HSPA support...

(Edit: I should say, HSPA is part of the UMTS family of technologies, but support for the higher-speed variants is up to the implementation.)

OK. I just went through the images on Phonearena and the files on the FCC website. Both sources seem to indicate the presence of UMTS 850 and 1900 bands (2 and 5,) in addition to LTE bands 4 and 13, and CDMA 800 and 1900.

While going through the FCC docs for the Verizon variant, I came across another model# (RGB141LW) which I can say with a high degree of certainty is the Sprint variant. It seems to have CDMA 800, 850, and 1900, no UMTS bands and LTE band 25 (which was the giveaway.)

Also, it seems to me, both these models are missing the GSM 900 and GSM (DCS) 1800 bands which would be very odd because IIRC, the CDMA Z10 and Q10 are quad-band GSM. Now, it's possible that since these two bands are not used in the US they weren't tested for. I'll let everyone draw their own conclusions.

I'll hold off on updating the chart for the following reasons:

    1. Need to confirm GSM bands
    2. Need to confirm UMTS bands
    3. Need to find out what model RGB141LW will be: a sub-variant of the STA100-3, or some other model

And as a sidenote, the RGB141LW had a whole lot more documentation than the RFX101LW. Now whether this means it's further along in the pre-release testing process, I don't know.

RGB141LW is -4 (Athos) for sprint
The FCC documents are incomplete sometimes, they don't test all bands on all devices it seems.

They definitely test all the bands that are being used in the US. Non-US bands they may not, but at least once I've seen them document them.

It seems that the proliferation of various 1G/2G/3G/4G air interfaces as well as increased spectrum utilization and fragmentation by cellular carriers around the world contributes to why we may not always see all the details now in an FCC report. There's just a heck of a lot more details to see these days, and if they aren't relevant to US usage, I could see why they may not end up being documented in an FCC report.

It's honestly why I've not spent a ton of time looking into it. No offense intended towards raino, he's trying to help folks out but the info is so scattered it's like putting together a puzzle with missing pieces. Easier to wait for the official documents to all go live and base a full run down off those for the blogs. That said, thanks for taking the time raino (and everyone else contributing) for helping folks out.

It would probably be an impractical (improbable?) task, especially in this era of LTE, where there are 40+ bands, networks are being refarmed, frequencies are selectively deployed in certain markets, new spectrum is being purchased, etc. It could get be too much to keep track of, so manufacturers do the next best thing: list what bands their device is equipped with, so that you can make the best decision.

If I understand the frequencies correctly, it appears that when Telus or Bell Canada release the Z30, I should be able to run it with full LTE compatibility on T-Mobile US.

Currently I have a Z10 STL100-3 with the following frequencies:
    HSPA+ 1,2,4,5/6 (850/1700/1900/2100 MHz)
    LTE 2,4,5,17 (700/850/1700/1900 MHz)

Those are the same frequencies in raino's graph, showing comparability with the Canadian carriers.

Am I missing something, or can I purchase an unlocked phone from Telus or Bell and away I go.
