Z30 gesture/touchscreen issue?
So, I picked up a Z30 from ShopBlackBerry.com this week and I noticed an issue with the screen when I'm doing gestures and I want to make sure it is an issue with the phone before trying to return it.
Basically, if I try to swipe up from the bottom, gesture control wont work if I do this either on the far left (left of and including the phone icon) or the far right (right of an including the camera icon). Essentially, the up gesture only works between the phone and camera icons.
On the top side of things, it is the same. If I try to swipe down, nothing happens on the far left of the screen (over the battery icon) or the far right of the screen (over the signal strength indicators). The swipe down gesture only works between the battery icon and the signal indicators.
The touch screen works because if I tap the phone icon or camera icon the apps run. And on the top end, if I tap the battery and signal icons, the settings menu comes down, it's just the 'gesture' part seems to be disabled in these areas.
I've never noticed this on the Z30 when I first owned it (back in November for a month), or the Z10, or the Q5 and a search doesn't really give any results. I called BlackBerry for tech support and they didn't even know how it was supposed to work (or at least the guy I talked to) and essentially said just return the phone for a new one.
Maybe this is how things have always worked but because of the way I hold the Z30 vs. the Z10/Q5 in my hand, I've never noticed it (and I no longer have those phones to test it out on). So, if this is normal then I'll just adjust how I hold the phone as it isn't the end of the world, but if it is a technical issue, then I'll swap it for another one.
And I've already reloaded the OS but that didn't help.
Any confirmation from fellow Z30 users as to if this is an issue or not would be appreciated.
Cheers.
