Well, is it readable in direct sunlight?
Yes. No problem at all.

Great. I remember early SuperAMOLED phones had problems with sunlight readability due to not being particularly bright.
Cant wait for my Z30 to arrive.
Reply from Spain, I am enjoying a sunny day being right now in a park. Brightness set to minimum and no problem at all.
Than obviously BBRY learned from their Q10 mistake, outsides + sunny + minimum brightness was impossible to read. However the common opinions of Q10 owners always differed greatly around here: Some said readability was poor, even on maximum brightness, others said they have no problems at all - even in hot dessert sun.

This is the problem with many Samsungs. I had a Note 2 and had to return it because of having such a dim screen outside in the sun.
I was in Turkey in the spring this year with my Z10. One day I was taking some pictures outdoors in full sun and these 2 Japanese girls came up to me and asked me to take their picture with their Samsung Galaxy S4. I could barely see them on its screen but I tapped it anyway and heard the shutter click. Took one or 2 more to hopefully get a good one. I handed the phone back to them.
They both immediately removed their sunglasses and shaded the screen to examine the photos I had just taken for them. At that point I decided to show them the photos I had just taken on the Z10. I signalled to them to keep their sunglasses on.
They were surprised to see how clear the photo could be viewed on the Z10 in direct sun, without shading it, while wearing sunglasses. "Brackbelly scleen is good, bettuh than Samsung" they chorussed. We all had a good laugh. It was a sweet moment.
I'm sure the Z30 screen will be just as bright and clear. Gonna go git me one.

The readability of the Z is pretty good. My Nexus 4 is awful outside. I have to force the screen to 100% brightness and even then I'm guessing sometimes.
Glad to know the Z30 is good outdoors as that is a big selling point for me.
To be honest, it's not as clear as the Z10 in full sunlight (by quite a margin). My Z10 at full brightness is far easier to read compared to the Z30 at full brightness. A limitation of the SAMOLED hardware I guess. That being said, even here in the Australian sun, it's still readable in direct sunlight. Just not as visible as the Z10 was.
That being said, the benefits of the Z30 far outweigh the downsides. And the battery life is ah-maze-ing!
LCD will always be clearer in direct sunlight. The Z30 screen has a lot of glare because of its shiny nature but at the right angle I can see perfectly.

I am actually disliking the z30 screen very much. To the point where I am actually considering giving it to my mum and returning back to z10!!!
It is not just the readability. The black has a kind of grainy blue tinge and the white looks yellow. I am not sure if this is because of the protective screen I've kept on but I sure hope that is the case!

While blacks are the strength of AMOLED displays, white as the opposite is somekind of a weakness. Have played around with the display brightness? I have seen some pictures of Q10s where the white was too yellow even for my liking, however I'm not sure whether that was a single units display fault or caused by the camera which captured the picture.
The grain however can most likely be caused by your screen protector. Grainy appearence is at least not a typical or common thing of AMOLED.

I use my Z10 without a screen protector. I've had it since February and not a scratch.
I'm calling Bell today to order my Z30... hmmm... who should I give my Z10 to?

I have a screen protector on, and no problems with visibility, graininess, etc.
