I've searched the forums and cannot find an answer: is it possible to turn off the Z30 without using the power key?

Volume up + down reboots the device, but I want to just power down.

    Anyone?
    Thanks.

About the only thing you can do is make sure Advanced Interaction under Settings is enabled so that your device goes into sleep mode when you "Flip to Save Power".

I had some problem with my first z30 only thing is either you wait until battery drains out or hard reset through buttons on the side

I know this comment isn't helping but what the hell lol

You're not going to find a better answer. There is no app to turn the device off anywhere. Either get the power key fixed (Google for parts, eBay etc), buy a new device of some sort, or just flip the device over to hibernate as I've stated in my post above. Those are your only choices. Good luck.

Not sure but what about pulling battery? Not sure if it would just restart on its own once battery is re installed

As it turns out, there IS another "choice" and a better answer, at least in my case; and that is to take the back cover off, find something to fit between the power key and its switch (I used a tiny flathead screwdriver), and hold the switch down until the phone turns off.

No offense, brookie229. Thanks for the help.

Glad to hear you found a way---no offense taken at all

While you have that back off why not look for a power switch on ebay or parts site?
