    That's not true.

Amoled suffers at lower resolutions because pixels are large and visible. This revealed the flaws in the pentile sub pixel arrangement that Amoled panels were using. As resolutions increase, pixels get smaller and sub pixel arrangement issues decrease because sub pixels are not longer visible. Plus, new sub pixel patterns correct most of the issue to begin with.

People see what they want to see. People are convinced that Amoled has problems so they see problems. At the same time, people ignore the areas in which Amoled is clearly better than LCD.

I like both Amoled and LCD, provided they are good panels.

Ofcourse higher resolutions provide a better viewing experience regardless if it's amoled or lcd, the type of display also plays a big role ofcourse. Lcd offers true colors, higher brightness, and better viewing under direct sunlight. Amoled is too saturated for me, it still suffers under sunlight despite advances in its technology. The blacks are great, but to see amoled in full glory it has to be at 100% brightness in my opinion. Lcd offers a better screen than amoled, again this is all my opinion

Well, 4k is a marketing gag as it's not really 4k, if we follow the currently established nomenclature.

480p/720p/1080p are all used to refer to the vertical pixels.
Because 4k sounds vastly more than 2160p, the marketers changed the term to designate the horizontal pixels.

4k in marketing terms isn't that impressive actually.
    REAL 4k definitely is though.

Hmmm well I saw the Sony 65inch 4k at the Sony store and it looked marvelous, the resolution was 3840x2160p, and from what just I read they are going by horizontal pixels thus the 3840 equalling 4k. Not true 4k, but it still looked amazing.

It's the same with 1080p. 2K is the professional standard. 1080p is the consumer standard.

4K is the professional standard. 3840p is the consumer standard.

One is aquistition, one is finishing. I wish we could all just stick with 2K and 4K at 24fps (not 23.976), but that would be too simple at this point.

Oh, that's interesting. I actually learned something today
    Thank you!

The consumer, like I just proved, is fairly more accustomed to the 480p/720p/1080p nomenclature.
4k will be used for marketing purposes nonetheless.

Professionals, as it's often the case, will know it better apparently.

No disputing that it looks amazing!
I have also seen one (would need check my photos to know what TV it was though) and there is just no comparison with 1080p, if the film material the TV is using, is adapted to the resolution.

I am just more impressed with "real" 4k (or 8k if it is easier to make the distinction).
An 8k beamer/projector for a home cinema must be the ultimate tool

Yeah lol golf never looked so epic! they had some clips in slow motion lmao. You can definitely see the difference from 1080 to "4k"! 8k must look like TV manufacturers actually trapped people and places in the TV

I was wondering if anyone knows if the screen is full RGB or pentile. After using both the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3, 720p should be perfectly fine on a 5" screen if the screen is full RGB. The HTC One X's (4.7" but shouldn't too big of a difference) screen looked incredibly sharp and crisp while the S3's fuzzy edges bothered the hell out of me.

You wouldn't be able to see the difference between 720 and 1080 except your battery would die quicker. I hear Samsung is buying Honda and all the new cars will have eight wheels.

Probably Pentile. If I remember correctly the Full RGB displays are called Super AMOLED Plus by Samsung.

Reporting back: So I managed to get my hands on one of these today and spent about 5-10 minutes playing with it. It is an incredible device, but there is a slight difference in overall sharpness compared with a couple of Android devices HTC, S4 but it is not that big of a deal. The device feels really good. Considering getting one once they are released.

I'm not allowed to post my pin in my signature anymore...
you can absolutely see the difference, even on a 5" screen: http://carltonbale.com/1080p-does-matter/. If I remember correctly the distance on a 5" display where you can start to notice the difference is about 12 inches.

Somehow, I think we'll be ok with 295 ppi. You're not gonna walk into the store thinking, wow, that screen looks like ****. You'll get over it

    Posted via CB10
Actually you might think it looks like ****. My phone is 5" 1080p (441 ppi) and when I look at other displays under 400 they don't look that good anymore. Just look at the other thread on CB where the guy has Z30 already and is answering questions. In his first post to start thread he states that Z30 display doesn't look as crisp as a 1080p display. I'm not saying 1080 is be all end all but trust me when people get used to it they will not want anything less.

There...fixed it for you. Sure as hell people can tell the difference between 295 ppi and 330 ppi. Hell I can tell the difference between my wife's GS3 (306 ppi) and my iPhone (326 ppi).

Couldn't agree more. Especially on a 5in screen.

If my 55" LED TV had less than 1080P, then I'd notice... but on a 5in screen? No.
I don't think you realize how PPI works. You don't see the difference between 1080p and 720p on a 55" LED TV because you are sitting 10 feet away. On a phone that you hold 6-12" away, you can absolutely tell the difference. PPI is a function of viewing distance, not screen size.
