Out of the blue I get a message that photos can't be saved to the media card. It is 64GB and there is plenty of space left. If I change the settings to save on device, the camera works. If I change it back to media card, it won't save.

    Any ideas?

    Running OS 10.3.3.3057

Remove the SD card then reinstall it! reboot your device!

Turned off the phone. Removed the SD card. Restarted the phone. Turned off the phone. Inserted the SD card. Restarted phone. Still get the same error message.

Also tried removing and reinserting the SD card while the phone was on and then rebooted using the volume up/down buttons. Still won't save.

Transfer your files off the card, and then reformat it with the phone.

Transferred the files off the phone. Tried the erase function first and got an error message saying it couldn' be done. Tried to format from the phone and said there was an issue downloading the media card drivers. Not sure what happened as this card has been working fine for a couple of years. I then tried to reformat with my computer and the quick format failed. Now running a full format (exFAT) and that is about 2/3 done. If that doesn't work, I have a Z10 that used that card and will try to format using it.

Windows 10 failed to finish the format...now off to the Z10 to give that a try. If that fails, then I am going to assume the card is corrupted and try a different card.

Z10 couldn't gave me the same messages. I put in another card of the same type and the Z30 formatted it without any issues. I guess the card died...

Yep--sounds like a card that has been corrupted. I'm betting that you can easily access and view all pics on pretty much any device BUT no write/edit functions are working. That card has been shut down by a fault trigger. Time for a new card sorry to say.

New card working just fine. Copied all the files over without a problem. Strange.

Last year during a trip to Australia--N.Z my wife had a 32 Gb card (a cheapo she had in a prior phone and maybe 3 years old) do the same thing in her Passport. At the time she was taking shots at a ridiculous rate and her Passport froze then had to be rebooted. The card was then toast. No pics were lost though but I cannot even delete the bad shots she took of me - basically all of me are bad - but that's another story.
