If I remember correctly, Denmark is one of the top countries in life satisfaction. People are generally happy and don't have much trouble, so if that much tax helps the people, I'd say that it's fair.

Other countries are not so lucky...

Yeah, I bet people are happy when the very few pay for everyone else. Doesn't mean its better, and it certainly is not fair. I thought Socialism has been proven time and again throughout history to not be a very good government model to follow.

Lol liberal socialism is seen as some evil entity in the US... while the top 10 countries to live in are almost all socialist in one form or another.

While it's not exactly fair, what the hell are you going to do with all that extra money? People get rich because they don't spend and keep piling up the money, and if you don't spend the money it's no different than having no money at all.

Savings is all well and good, but if your country makes good use of your money, I don't think things can get any better. Money is merely a means to an end: to keep you happy, maybe via not having to worry about loans, not having to worry about health care costs, etc etc but the point is as long as the money is not funneled to fund some Huge Richard's travel to exotic islands

For example, the Parliament in Indonesia went to South Africa to study South African boyscout. You're welcome.

THAT is why people and businesses are leaving NY in droves. Many years ago, early 90's to be exact, I had been out of the country and NY for 2 consecutive years. I had literally not set foot in NY for that time . I still got a tax bill from NY state. I paid it and promptly relocated to the Great State of Texas!

Let's not start down this debate road again PLEASE. History has many a cautionary tale about perceived utopias. They either collapse at around the 70 year mark or get get conquered .

A book by Frederic Bastiat called "The Law" is an excellent discursive piece in your assertion.

Ideas on making society better or perfect in a vacuum are harmless and even alluring. When put into practice by REAL people, with REAL emotions and REAL human frailties they tend to become totalitarian very quickly. It's for the greater good of everyone, you see. {sarcasm} We have so any examples of soft tyrannies right now it's ridiculously. We are told what to eat, drive, what kind of light bulbs to buy etc. The hard tyrannies are obvious. Thomas Jefferson is credited with saying "A government big enough to give you everything you want, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have." As history has shown and as we see repeated in our own lifetimes, those we elect( if we are fortunate enough to have an election system) so often conduct themselves as our masters rather than caretakers and sow the conditions to perpetuate their favored positions.

Lol we are suddenly talking about totalitarianism from socialism? They are two different things.

And socialism and being a commie are different as well.

You can do your own research, but some of the world's top countries in terms of economy and living conditions such as Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, and other European countries have a socialist government agenda, and if that means paying more tax than other countries, then I am happy with that.

For the OP, $30 tax is nothing. I just paid $60 tax for the Z30 I bought from shopblackberry.com
    And I live in Canada.
