Sounds like the unstated subsidy is more than $20/month. What is the total monthly cost?

Remember the z30 was only $129 down. Not a big difference.

It was on a best buy black Friday sales flyer. I expect the monthly fees with data to be 65-75 per month- maybe a little less if you dropped features. But a great deal if you are without a contract!

Telus requires a $70 monthly plan plus taxes on a 2 year plan.

With an iPhone it's $75.

Actually the cancelation fee is $50. You also have to pay off the balance of the phone which is a no brainer. Canadian carriers have been operating like this for a while.

I think what is typical with the change in legislation is a modest cancellation fee (in my case with rogers $12.00) but you had to pay out the balance if the phone (again in my case about $350). But this balance declines each month.

I'm getting a Z30 from Rogers this week for 0$ !! I had them price match Telus, plus I get to keep my old plan which is 3GB, unlimited everything else
just for 60 a month

Yes, that's exactly what I did. Call them to price match Telus at zero and they will but you'll have to order it as they don't have any in stores. By order I mean they'll ask to ship it to your address, you won't have to pay any fees just your flextab balance in the next bill.
