- I personally don't think it's that much of an upgrade from the Z10. Same amount of RAM, when you would think that the flagship would have more than the minimum to run BB10. Same less than adequate camera with a worse quality screen. The only real upgrade I see is the battery. Sure the processor is slightly better, but also remember that it is a dated chipset to put on a brand new phone. For those reasons, I couldn't imaging wasting the money upgrading my Z10 to a Z30.

The screen size is huge difference. The most important upgrade for me as I am a heavy user is the battery alone. Always kills me people like the guy above never even tried it but spews crap about outdated processor and ram. It has the 10.2 running fast and isn't running on a bloated OS enough said.

Posted via CB1011-09-13 07:56 AMLike 0 - Rather than some others, who focus on technical specs only to assess a phone, I would like to answer the OP's question from the perspective of a user who had/has both phones. Here is why I transitioned to the Z30, and why it was a good move for me:
battery lasts much longer. It's amazing, gets me through 2 busy days.
larger screen allows for much easier typing. In combination with the BB10 keyboard, the Z30 is the first phone that gives me the feeling that I could potentially give up on a physical keyboard. Not so the Z10. Same keyboard, but smaller size.
I liked the Z10's screen, and the Z30 is not worse in that regard. Despite of the resloution being slightly lower (related to the bigger screen size), you won't see the difference. The screen is great.
That's about it for me. Yes the sound is better, but I rarely listen to music through the phone's loudspeakers. However, when I do, I enjoy it. The snappier processor I didn't really take notice of, as I was OK with the Z10 in that field too. The Z30 is a bit more solidly built, but I liked the Z10 too. They feel different when you touch them, but I wouldn't call one "better" than the other in that regard.
Overall, the Z30 offers a great user experience, in combination with BB10.2. For me, a good move from the Z10.
I feel pity for those who constantly refer to bits and bytes only when bashing the phone and therefore won't own one. They're missing something.11-09-13 08:14 AMLike 4 -
The Moto X is another sad attempt at a flagship. It won't sell. The only thing it has going for it is the color customization. Even though it won't sell well, I can still almost assure it will sell better than the Z30 due to consumer perception, apps, a familiar OS, and the color customization.
All I was saying is that the Z30 doesn't seem like a viable upgrade over the Z10 FOR ME. It's overpriced for what it offers and I don't think it's worth it.

I finally ordered my z30 from Telus online and I don't have any regrets. It's everything that I loved about my z10 but with the bigger screen and amazing battery life. The speakers really are great as well. Some of the other features, like miscast and the like still need to be explored.

Generally - the main thing are the seemingly much larger screen and the audio capabilities. Internally you don't notice as much anything to do with batteries and antennae but they're all there working in harmony. It is a fast, fluid and very well made device.
The experience? It seems a lot easier to type on than even the great Z10. There is a lot more screen real estate so messages, web pages, documents all are easier to read and to handle.
Once you work with the Z30 for even a couple of days you won't want to go back. It is a great form factor to work with and will probably be your favourite for a long time.11-09-13 10:17 AMLike 0 -
The question was "Upgrade from Z10 to Z30?" not "what other piece of garbage should I buy because there are haters who can't even read or understand my question".TrueKulcha and Pdinos3 like this.11-09-13 10:21 AMLike 2 - After looking around Montreal trying to find a live demo and never finding anything but iPhone and Android phones, I decided to spend some time with each of them. Posted via CB1011-09-13 10:21 AMLike 0 - I've also made the switch about a month ago, and it was a no brainer. The Z30 feels a lot better to the touch (my Z10 was white), screen real estate is a great plus, the apps somehow runs much smoother even with a tiny bit of spec upgrade, the keyboard is better (though the one on Z10 was great to begin with). And best of all is the battery life, that was my biggest reason to jump into Z30 in the first place. All in all, you will not regret making that switch.
Posted via CB1011-09-13 10:28 AMLike 0 - I made the switch and love it. Many great points made in this thread. My only regret was how long it took me to get it unlocked. I tried a couple of sources and it was almost 2 weeks11-09-13 11:41 AMLike 0

Hey OP, I went from the Z10 to the Z30 and it's like night and day. It's an amazing move and would highly recommend it. The build quality feels better, the screen size, the amazing battery life, the speed and smoothness is also top notch. I say if you can, do it and you will not regret it.11-09-13 11:54 AMLike 0
