Hey guys I need some advice! Currently looking to update but I don't know which phone to get. I'm on Bell in Canada and the Z10 would be a free upgrade where as the Z30 would be around $170. What would you suggest is the better deal?

Lol I know the z30 is better but I guess what I'm really asking is would it be worth the extra $170?

It depends... I personally think the Z10 is perfect. i don't need a bigger screen and it shares almost the same specs. So Z10 is fine for me. Although I must say the extremely good battery life of the Z30, its premium build quality and BlackBerry Natural Sound Speakers certainly sound appealing.

I recently dropped my Z10. Its still working, but it vibrates really loud now and the upper right corner does not work any longer. Will by a new one when price has dropped to $200. Z30 (530 E without contract in EU) is too expensive for me

Play with both devices (find demo units to use) and find out which works for you.
Some people complain about the size and display of the Z30, so if this is a potential deal breaker, Z10 may be your best option.

    I'd like to chime in:

Not looking at your device to ensure the battery is going to make it is more than worth $170 over the course of 2 years. I can really stop there...

But, to add to that, the quality of the device is premium and noticeable, It feels like it is worth more.
Both phones have adequate speed but the 30 does perform a tad better.
The sound of the device is night and day in terms of comparison with the Z10, it's actually worth showing off, like when playing real racing 3, or a nice quality music track. Screen real estate, enhances the already great typing experience.

To be straight, the 30 is the device Blackberry should have released along with the Q for the die-hards. I don't touch my 10 or playbook or Ipad anymore.

I hope that helps, it's a yes..it's worth the loot.

I switched mainly for the battery life, well worth it in my books. It might be a little cumbersome for someone with small hands as it is slightly bigger than the Z10 but after a while you do get used to it like you did when you first handled the Z10.
I went in to buy it out right but turned out it was cheaper to just rewrite my contract, so 128 beans and it was mine out the door!

If you're thinking Z10, factor in an extra $50 for the battery bundle, cause you'll need it.

Z30 has a dimmer screen, less PPI too - but the extra screen real estate affords better Browsing, Gaming, and Typing experiences than the Z10 (I owned the Z10 from day 1). Personally, the PPI and brightness are no big deal to me, but others will state it is a deal breaker to them. Another downside are the 'soft' buttons - too easy to accidentally press, versus the more solid Z10 buttons (Q10's are the best in my opinion). Z10 is easier for one handed typing, browsing, and UI navigation... the Z30 is a little large for one handed use if under 6ft tall I feel.

Z30's battery is great, giving you a full day from moderate use (Z10 you'll be charging by noon hour, like an iPhone) . It really is nice not to worry about the battery bundle, finding outlets after gaming for an hour, etc.

Z30's speakers are tremendous in my opinion. Loud, and clear... great for conference calls, or music around the house even, and gaming. Let's not forget about Miracast & Wifi-Direct as well. I believe the Z30 will also support FM radio, like the Q5, and Q10 too... whereas the Z10 doesn't support it.

My vote is Z30 all the way though, having owned both... provided the 170 won't break you. If 170 is a lot of cash at the moment, the Z10 is still superb.

    Z30 for three reasons.

    1) Beefier battery.

    2) Much better speakers

    3) USB host = unlimited expandable memory

In my opinion, these three alone would make it worthwhile to spend the extra money and go with a Z30

Of course it would be worth $ 170 common it's only $170 not $ 1,700 for a phone...

For me that was the tipping point also. Having to be worrying about battery level all day was an added stress that I am now relieved of.

What does the Z10 off contract go for these days in the US, and now 10.2 runs too doesn't this make the Z10 more appealing again?

I changed to a 9900 a couple of months ago as the Z10 just didn't appear here (Mexico) and the prices on our equivalemt ebay were outragous.
Today the Z10's price, even on contract, is still ridiculous and who knows when the Z30 might eventually arrive ...

Hve to admit tat fater years of 9700 use the 9900 is a big disappointment personally. The only improvement is the browsing ....

Going to the US in a couple of weeks and will look around. I prefer the Z30 specs and size but if I can snatch a Z10 for way less cash I honestly don't see the huge benefit of a Z30. Battery life could be a huge deal but I have bad experience with non removable batteries ....

    Any advise?

    Cheers

Well the Z10 is going for 399 on the blackberry website but if you go to the store, TMobile, they will want 500+ so you would probably be better off purchasing online from Blackberry to save some bucks.

I'm torn. I have had a Z10 type device (had a dev alpha when they were first given out and a Z10 LE and a Z10 from work. When I saw about the Z30, I didn't like it. I have been trying out a Z30 for about a week and I love it. I also love my Z10. I like the Q10 that I have also, but not as much as the Z's. The Z30 is a little bigger carrying on the hip. Try them both out and see which one you would like more. I must say my time with the Z10 was great. You can't go wrong with either.

Consider the fact that I'm going to shell out close to $700 for the Z30, I'd say that a $170 upgrade cost is definitely worth it.
