Todays smart phones are so capable and powerful out of the box theres really no need to root any more unless u trying to speed up the processor or slow it down to preserve battery life. Nine times out of ten if you bricked a phone its because you did something wrong.
Having a blackberry running aandroid with blackberry on top as a skin or blackberry running gGoogle svcs is having the best of both worlds if you ask me .

I'd better go to a dumb phone than to any android UI, if I have to change the WP looks nice, hopefully that will never happen.

What Google services are missing from bb10 now? Gmail? I'd need gmail pushed through like on just about every other phone I've owned.

broke down and got galaxy note 8: infinitely better than PB, and flahs actually works better than PB, hasn't crashed once, kindle way better, TYPING way better, fillinf online forms easier, apps I need much better, AND THAT PROCESSOR!, I could go on and on ....now I may think of going note 3 for phone once my contract is up .... hate it but experience, on tablet ata least, exponentially better,,, hate to give up my 9900, but ......
Keep in mind that Note 8 is a brand new 2013 device on a matured OS. The original PlayBook was a 2011 device on what could be said is a Beta OS. BB 10 is not PlayBook OS, I would still give a BB 10 phone a chance before switching.

Ive tried a number of android launchers and for me is nothing compared to the BB10 OS that works perfectly, even more now that you can directly install the apk files.

I think that BB OS is great and the way it has renewed is amazing, if they go and use Android is like loosing their identity in the market, besides that, changing the whole OS would be changing the main reason why users stay with blackberry and no with other brand.

Just as easy to install an APK (android apps) to a blackberry as it is with an Android. They run a lot more smoother on my Q10 then my Nexus 7" Tab.
    *No sideloading needed anymore*

To be clear. If you're asking, "Should Android OS run on a BlackBerry?" Simply put, no! I'm not even fond of the 'crappy' apps that are being migrated from Android to BlackBerry. People ask for this app and that app, when in actuality the BlackBerry 10 simply works and flawlessly, too. Once you start installing all these 'weirdly built' apps people wonder why their device starts to give them all sorts of issues...

    Yep, I said it!

    Hello,

I've been an avid BB lover for a few years. I've since owned a Android based device. Being that the Android Marketplace is so open to developers and the UI is very developed wouldn't it make sense for BB to switch? It would be a deal breaker for me to switch back to BB. I understand already that you can load android apps on BB but that seems like a pain.

    Anyone's opinions???
    Short awnser - No

Long awnser - The z30 has at the best comperable specs to high end android phones, They only thing that moves it above being just another android phone is the superior operating system IMO, I came from android to bb10 and I have yet to regret it, love the user friendly buttery smooth operation, my wife has an s4 and even with its superior specs, it seems laggy and hard to use, mostly because of a bloated inefficient operating system. Why would you ever want that on a BB?

That was his reason for not buying a z30. "If I wanted android, I'd buy a Samsung". Couldn't convince him bb10 was different.

Every app I've tried especially all the big name apps run the same as on android or better (tested my Q10 vs my friends SG4 and HTC One). Same amount of hang ups for most things except the android leaves the app right away and Blackberry gives the option to wait or leave. I f you press wait it loads up right away. App opens the same or better. Same content like video/picture/file uploading per app. I haven't tried bluetooth sport trackers but my fitness pall and fitocracy is much better on my Q10 then both androids.

No discussion needed, NO! BB10 or they could have just sold the company and exited mobile all together. No android, that wouldn't be BB, that would be android. Defeats the purpose of it being a BB. I wouldn't buy one.

I'm sorry but im not seeing the point of dual boot. For that u might as well just have a ssecond phone running the os u want. Am I wrong? I think the point is to have the best of both worlds at one time. No?

BlackBerry 10 is being overrun with the Android app experience so we're almost there already.

I would like to see BlackBerry release one Android touchscreen device with enhanced security features. If you can't beat an OS that commands 81% of the marketplace, join 'em!
