Curious about this. Because my Z10 is increasingly taking the place of my PlayBook and IPad I wonder how the Z30 users out there feel about this? When tablets first came out they were carried everywhere. But the weight/bulk factor means it's a bit of a pain. Now I almost always use my Z10 --the increased screen real estate could mean leaving the other stuff at home.

I'm not sure a Z30 would replace my Playbook.

Mine has. Playbook and Z10 sold now using just the Z30. No complaints.

I would think that it would pretty much replace a tablet as a carry around device. I have never been one to carry around a tablet. I have always just carried a phone and laptop. And I only use the laptop when the phone can't handle the task that needs to be done.

Too small for a tablet, for me anyway.

If the Z10 is already 'almost' replacing your tablet, then it would be a safe bet to say that the Z30 will do the same or better. Based on the early feedback here on CB, it sounds like it does everything better... so...

    In a non-related way:
Technically speaking, it can, even if you're looking at the Android side of things (point to note, most Android tablets are terribly out-specced by their phone counterparts, yet android tablets still have a strong following)

In a related way, If you use your z30/z10 as a big touchscreen/touchpad while streaming the contents to a tv / screen, I don't see why it doesn't replace a tablet?

I haven't touched my PlayBook since I bought my Z10. So I'd imagine that the Z30 should be able to replace the PlayBook.

    Not sure.
I use my PB in meetings to take notes instead of paper and pen. Have done since April 2011. I continue to do this despite my purchase of the Z10 in Feb.
There's something about the use of a cell phone in a business meeting that is a negative (IMHO) compared to a tablet.
    Semantics perhaps. Things change.

I didn't turn on my playbook or my other 9" tablet since I got the Z10
They just sit on the shelf, occasionally get a battery charge, or load a movie for a trip

That's more and more what my PlayBook is relegated to: movie on a plane, and a late night puzzle. The browser is so fast on the Z10 that if the Z30 is as good as the reviews, the tablets will only go on the plane. Which leads to the question, is the 5" form factor big enough to watch a movie?

no, and a netbook wasnt big enough to actually get much done either. How many netbooks do you see ?

True. I gave mine to my daughter. So this last trip I had my laptop, used it on the plane to do editing, and work at my destination. Watched a movie on the PlayBook, otherwise didn't touch it. Read news and did usual messaging, directions,Facebook, etc. from the Z10.

It's really not that much smaller of a screen either... like the PlayBook has an inch wide bezel all the way Round and the z30 has no bezel and the screen is full size of the phone on 3 sides. Much more effective use of screen size

If BlackBerry 10 had Netflix, Hulu and a few other apps I probably would replace my Z10 and N7 with a Z30.

It wouldn't for me, too small. My current tablet is a 10" samsung, but would trade it in heartbeat for a new BB10 tablet, if they ever created one.

It could, 5 compared to 7; for reading a lot could depend on software for fonts and text size. I have heard the Z30 called a phoblet a cross between a phone & tablet.

I like the smaller size because it just fits easily in so many places, like the side pocket of my favorite wool winter RL jacket.

That's my thinking too. So easy to put the Z30 size into a suit breast pocket, a hip pocket, or a loose pant pocket. In jeans it might be tough. But really, I think most people would prefer one device, multi-functional and easily carried.

It all comes down to the size. If you are satisfied with 5", the z30 is fine. If your the type of person that needs the extra width and length, a tablet is a must have to get into that 7" to 10" size.
