If I purchase a z30-sta-5 for att will that mean that I won't be getting 4g/lte and would be getting 3g/hspa+ instead? I'm aware that the sta-5 is good for t-mobile frequencies and that for att you would need the sta-1 for full lte. I only ask bc the seller I'm buying from did not mention the model in his listing until I asked and was told it was a sta-5. So now I'm having second thoughts on whether I should pull the trigger. Thanks for any help in advance.

I'm on Telus with the Z30STA100-5. (That's the model Telus uses.) As I understand, Telus and AT&T use the same frequencies, but you should probably double-check that. I'm running out, so I can't check right this minute.

Also i'm thinking that the sta-2 or sta-1 is what I need but if I stick out the sta-5 for att what would I be getting? (3g, hspa, etc)

Thanks a lot greatly appreciated. I was just reading on another thread that an att user with a sta-5 was getting 4g but no lte. I can live with that if this is true.

It's been pretty well documented here that if you are on AT&T your likelihood of LTE is very limited if at all. I have a Verizon Z30 I'm using on AT&T and never get LTE. But the 4G is plenty fast enough for me.

There are reports that an AT&T compatible version of the Z30 could be released. But like everything else with AT&T, nobody really knows if it really will be or when.

LTE isn't everywhere so that may be an issue for some of the folks I would think.

Fully aware but clarification is nice. Just wanted to be sure of 4g @ least. Especially when I'm buying an item that will be non-returnable. Thank you. And I did see the article about att but I can't wait any longer lol lte isn't that impt to me

This is the thread with your answers. FYI the STA100-1 went through FCC on December 20. We could see this by end of January/mid February. I'm waiting. Good Luck! http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=850736

It will only get LTE on regions where AT&T has deployed LTE on band 4. Most areas for AT&T are on band 17 which is lacking on the STA100-5.

T-mobile runs their LTE on band 4 and I can confirm that I get LTE on T-mobile in my location using the STA100-5. This is the main reason I left AT&T for T-mobile. I have no regrets as the service that I am getting is better and the price is unbeatable.

Thanks a lot, greatly appreciated. They should make a sticky of this (not sure if they did already) for all bb10 phones, would be very useful since we all wanna know these things when new phones come out lol I just ordered mine off ebay and it will be on its way soon. If att comes out with one soon then maybe i will sell the sta-5 and use my upgrade. But im thinking ill just save the upgrade for something better when the time comes

Yeah I agree here. I want a Z30 bad. I want that battery life, screen, paratek, all of the network connections missing from the Z10 (miracast, Wi-Fi direct,) and that glass weave back. But I'm not pulling the trigger without LTE

I agree with everything you said, except oddly enough, I'm not that stoked about the battery. I've NEVER been a fan of sealed batteries (in fact, that was one of the selling points for me when I first got into BlackBerry). And the fact that my Z10 lasts 24 hours minimum with my 4500mah battery, actually makes it seem like a downgrade, hahaha. But it'll definitely look better than my franken-berry

I thought Rogers here in Canada and AT&T used the same frequencies (but I could be wrong, according to my wife )...I have a -5 on Rogers and am on LTE 98% of the time

They are not the same. The equivalent Z30 for AT&T is the yet to be released STA100-1.

I know what's going to happen. I will buy the Z30 from Verizon, two weeks later (after return period is over) AT&T will announce it.
Does anyone know how long VZ has the exclusive right to Z30?
It was released on Nov 14th, so 60 days is over, my guess is 90 days.. Let's wait and see. Perhaps AT&T will make push for it around Feb 14th? Do you guys remember the AT&T branded Z30 was the first to leak on videos? Then it suddenly disappeared like it never existed.. My guess is that VZ made them all pull the videos off the net.

-5 has been a lot more friendly with AT&T's LTE than any other model. However, it does not guarantee LTE in all locations.
Where did you get your -5 from?

So you are keeping the rest of us from getting the -1 model. Well, get to Verizon and buy your Z30 so I can get my STA100-1 already.
Ok, I am accepting donations so I can let AT&T release their Z30.
