HI everyone! I've never had so much difficulty with a new phone and unable to figure things out for myself, however there are many things about this phone I love so I'll keep at it. Numerous times I've attempted to watch YouTube videos and they play without any problem, however there is never any sound. I turn up the volume on the side of the phone each time, and it's always already maxed. I don't have any issues with sound when playing my solitaire game. What is happening?

You've rebooted it a few times I imagine? There is a OS bug which can cause no Media Sound on occasions

What OS are you on? I have never had that issue but know of someone with a Q10 that happens to sometimes. A reboot will fix it for them for awhile. Does it work with headphones?

It's been an ongoing issue since day one..I do turn off my phone at night. Do I need to do a more thorough reboot?

You're on a very old version of the OS, that won't be helping.

Before I go all technical on you, have you any previous experience with a BlackBerry 10 device?

Please tell me you have a computer with Windows or OSx?

If so, install BlackBerry Link if you already haven't (if you haven't plug the device into the pc and let a dialog pop up on the Z30 screen, there will be a button labelled Install Drivers)

Open link and see if there is an update.

I don't have to Mac so no clue how much different it is.

So frustrated...after installing BlackBerry Link when I connect my phone to the computer I'm supposed to automatically be prompted to update but I'm not. When I go to my phone settings and check for updates there are none.

You should be able to see a login/ sign in button inside link, login and make sure your device is seen by link.

Check the software update tab, if there's no update go to the backup tab and run a full backup.

Then hit the reload OS button, Internet needed of course

There's a thread on YouTube videos and audio problems. I don't recall the resolution if there was one.

You mentioned, the headphone test. Have you tried YouTube with the headphones?

Have you watched any movies or videos that you've downloaded and did audio work on those? Have you tried recording using the video camera and narrated and played those back?

It could be YouTube and its coding???

Who is your carrier?

Unfortunately, I don't know the latest OS versions for the various carriers. (Sachesi might be able to provide that info - anybody know???)

I've installed BlackBerry 10 desktop software and when I try to install link it just goes to installing desktop software again. I've gone through the process 3 times.

May be a silly question but, it has happened to me. Is your YouTube volume turned up, this on YouTube not the phone?

I don't think that's the problem...it's actually any video I try to watch on any platform. Not only YouTube.

I went to one of my home videos from an Ed Sheeran concert I was at...it was delayed but the sound eventually started, then it stopped again.

I wish I could help your dilemma but, i am just guessing. Hav had my Z30 since it's conception never had a problem, only upgraded when upgrades came over the air. I have no complaints at all. Z30 gas been the best BlackBerry that I have used, period. Suggest taking back to your wireless supplier for a hands on, Good luck.

I have had this happen also. I start a saved video, then restart YouTube and that will usually fix it.

I've had the same issue intermittently with my Z30. What I find is that I have to reboot my phone and then it works fine. It's a hassle if you're trying to show someone a YouTube clip. Not really explored why or when it has this problem, but hoping it's a software issue which will resolve itself at some point.
