    Like Nintendo did with the 3DS in Europe? In some ways, it's a good idea, but the idea that they have to buy even more puts off some people. Plus, different phones are optimised for different charging rates.

    O2 in the UK tried selling phones without chargers in a bid to be environmentally friendly.
    Don't think the idea took off; here you can buy the manufacturers chargers on their own.

    I think I read somewhere that they intentionally make them short so you won't use the phone while charging. It damages the battery in some way. Not entirely sure, so don't crucify me if I'm wrong ok.

    It's short so that you can't hang yourself when you realize you've bought a piece of kit that will likely fail to be supported anytime soon. If the parent company gets broken up how long do you think they will offer os updates for? 2 years? If your lucky.
