Recently, I went to a trip for the long weekend. I didn't charge my phone frequently. When I went back to the hotel, battery was in the 20s. When it turned 100, I put my phone beside my bed on the table before I went to bed. I didn't use it at all. Slept for 7 hours. When I woke up, my battery went from 100 to ZERO. I couldn't believe. I went to charge my phone again, but charging it was so slow, which is unusual. I normally just lose a few percent. And then after, the same thing happened again. Whether I used my phone or not , battery drained. Even when I normally use my phone, I lose about 30 percent. I don't know why now for the past few days my battery is evaporating.

    How to stop this?

What does Device monitor say for usage over the past 48 hours? Do you also remember what your signal was like on the trip?

Don't let the battery drain to zero. Carry an extra battery with you. Carry a power pack with you. Remove unnecessary apps as they run and drain your battery. Uninstall Android apps as you phone is not meant to run them efficiently. All these things can help.

All of those are good advice from one of our long time members and great contributors. However, the extra battery won't really help you with the z30. It is an internal battery and not easily swappable like it was with the z10.

I think you should definitely check your signal strength and also look at what apps are running in the background, or ones that you have minimized. Something is definitely causing some issues. If you are leaving Android apps running, it is likely the phone is not able to put itself to sleep due to inactivity, unlike the BB10 apps, that if coded correctly, will put it to sleep. It is likely something was running and drained it fully (perhaps Pokemon Go or Candy Crush ).

I don't have any Android games on my z30. Though I got rid of some Android apps to see if it made a difference

I normally don't let my battery drain so low. I've been out for most of the day during my trip, I never had the chance to charge. I can't remove my battery, I have a z30 lol.

This is the chart of my usage. I didn't roam any data, since I have only a Canadian SIM card. I went to nyc this long weekend, so no data usage, only wifi.

IIRC, high System usage could be caused by device radios (LTE, poor signals, etc) or background processes (native and Android). If this happens again you guys should try disabling LTE (Settings -> Networks and Connections -> Mobile Network -> Network Mode) and closing any running Android or background apps from Device monitor.

Just drain your phone's battery until its completely empty then charge it back until its completely full (100%) in one shot.

Well I've stopped Android apps from running, configure the data roaming, charged from 0%, not charge from 0%. But still, no improvements. It's just an annoyance for me that I have to bring my charger all the time. Luckily my contract will end in November so I'll get a new phone after the z30.

This is a general problem regarding the z30 (about the battery) or it is only an isolate case?

To maintain the lithium battery in a good condition, at least every 2 or 3 months you have to completely empty it and charge it back to 100%.

Did you try to stop the 'Run in the background' permission on every single app installed in your phone? If you've done all of those and still got the same issue then your phone' s battery has reached the charging limit cycle. Time to replace your Z30's battery or like you said get a new phone.

I don't how they can replace the battery since it's built in the z30. Guess I have to wait for November to get a new phone from telus

In the last month I have noticed that my Z30 drains the battery quicker than before. I would never need to worry about charging during the day and now I do. Wondering if it is just the age of the phone and the battery finally giving out.

If you want to try there are a lot of videos on you tube how to dis assembly Z30 and remove the battery. You can buy a Z30's battery replacement out there. But if you're not sure and don't have enough confidence then don't do it and just get a new phone.
