I tried two different video editing software to edit videos made with my z30, on PC. All I'm doing it cutting segments out at Key Frames, so no re-encoding is taking place. When trying to save the edited file, I get an error message-box, and the file isn't saved:

"Error 0x80040207 (The owner SID on a per-user subscription doesn't exist) in the ConnectFilters (MP4Muxer: 1)"

The error is in the Audio Stream (If I save just the audio, the error occurs; but if I save just the video, it saves fine)

Google doesn't have anything interesting to say about this error.

The original files play fine on PC using any video player I throw at it

The software I'm using to edit is "machete".

I also tried AVS Video Remaker, but with similar results. It is able to save the edited file, but the playback audio is broken up.

I can edit the files on the phone itself, and save them, but the 60 fps videos get converted by the built-in editor to 30 fps (obviously a bug)

Anybody encountered a similar editing problem on PC; is there a solution? Missing an audio codec?

Machete does produce a log during the error:

    The more interesting lines are:

"ConnectFilters failed: 0x80040217 (No Audio Codec) Point: (DXVideoFunc, 1736)"

    and

    "Audio[0]: AAC (, 2 ch, 192 kbps), 12.351 sec Point: (MediaData, 646)"

^ Note the missing value for the "sampling rate" (in kHz). All that's there is the "(," .

    Here's the entire log:

Hum, that's weird. Never had such problem ...

Have you tried to convert it (say to AVI or WMV) before editing it ?
That's something AVS should do pretty easily.

I just tried using AVS Video Converter and had the file re-encoded to MKV. It converted fine, saved, and I can edit the new file and save it. So that worked fine, but the downside of this approach is that I'm re-encoding the file, thus introducing a certain amount of loss of quality. Ideally I'd want to edit the original file, at key-frame points, thus not having to re-encode when saving, and preserver the original quality.

From the experiment, it looks like the audio can be read and played back fine, and it can be read and re-encoded fine too, but saving it as is (without re-encoding) trips up the software used.

I'm going to look for other software that edits without re-encoding. Maybe I find something that can fixes the audio fault before saving it.

Ok, so at least we have a workaround ...
I believe there's something about the 60fps format that your current editing software (as the in-house Z30 one, as you mentioned ?) cannot handle.
So I'd be tempted to suggest you search for that particular capability, either with a plug in addition or a later SW version ...
Must say I've reached my video editing skill here, so maybe another CB member can help ?

Maybe this could be helpful (I believe there's a 30 day trial free version of Premiere) or at least inspiring about settings in another video SW :

    Hope it helps,

It's possible that the on-device (z-30) editing software bug which converts 60 fps videos to 30 fps is fixed in an update. I don't yet have the latest OS version installed. I'm waiting for that "can't remove android apps" bug to get addressed before I update. Still, this phone bug doesn't matter to me much since I prefer editing on PC instead of "on the phone" anyway. It's faster, easier....

Now, regarding the audio issue which prevented me from saving PC-edited-videos (regardless of which fps they were taken in) on PC, I found a better solution, one that doesn't require re-encoding to fix the audio problem:

I use "Avidemux" to open the file, and then save it (in "copy" mode to preserve original quality, and using the "MKV Muxer" for Output Format [the default 'AVI Muxer' produced a black video]). The file saves fine and the save fixes the audio problem. The saved file can then be opened, edited, and saved in Machete or AVS.

It would still be nice to know what the hell is wrong with the original file, but at least the newest workaround is fairly easy, quick, and no quality loss.

Thanks for your input; you helped steer me to a pretty decent solution.

"The owner SID on a per-user subscription doesn't exist" error is generally caused by a clash of codecs on the computer.
If it was working, then you installed or tried out some other player or encoding pack, and that is when it started acting up then you may need to fully clean those off.
This issue isn't related to a particular Windows version or a particular player, recorder, burner, or encoder.

The first time I tried to edit on PC, I got the error; mind you, I never tried to edit on PC until about a month ago. The error happens on both of the two Windows installations I have. Both computers have several video players installed (some of which probably install their own set of codecs) and each computer has "k-lite" codec pack installed too. Too many codecs? Most likely. Some conflicting ones? Hmmm...Could be. I'd like to get to the bottom of this, but now that I have a good workaround for the problem, I'm not sure I feel like uninstalling everything that did, or could have, installed a codec that might be screwing things up. I'd then have to reinstall all the stuff. I feel pain just thinking about it.

Interesting info you gave me though, so thanks. Maybe I'll just install Windows on a separate drive, and then try again on a pristine system

Personally, I stay away from the K-lite packs, they have had a jaded history of having some not-so-nice additions to the packs.
I use CCCP, Combined Community Codec Pack, for my AV needs.

They do have one tool on their site that you may find useful, CCCP Insurgent.
It scans your system for codecs and troublesome settings and recommends fixes.
    Their website is:
    www.cccp-project.net
But right now on my end, it appears they are offline.
