hi guys,

ive just received my white z30 and i immediately noticed the slippery surface of the battery door.
I'm really afraid of dropping the phone because of that and I'm thinking about returning or change it to the black version.
but before i wanted to ask owners of the white versions if they feel the same way and in addition if there are any battery doors for sale that have some kind of texture on it to give it a bit of grip...?!

That's exactly why I didn't get white. Had the same issue with the z10. Try ordering the black door

My fiance got a white one with a white case that has a battery door attached to it.. it has the leather backing like the bold 9700 did.. and the leather folds over the front.. not sure if that's something you are interested in but it looks pretty nice

I have the same problem. Waiting for the clear case I ordered from eBay to arrive. Once I get it and get a feel for it, I'll repost my findings.

Nah i dont like that flip case. Would be nice if there was a white battery door with grippy surface made by some case manufacturer.....wishful thinking i guess

I've got the white z30 and don't find the back to be too slippery as it's a matte finish rather than glossy. That said, I've got it in one of those generic clear TPU cases with that "S" design on the back. Got paranoid when I read all the threads of people dropping their z30s and smashing the screen!

While I'm sure the black z30 has more grip (I have the q10 so am familiar with the glass weave texture), I wouldn't give up my white z30 for anything!!! It's so sleek and futuristic looking! It's as if it just jumped out of the film Oblivion! I've had a couple of folks mistaken it for a Samsung tablet when I've has it sitting on a table. Such a gorgeous device!

What would it look like if you cut the flap off? Curious because the GF is complaining about the same thing on her z10. Currently trying to find some kind of clear adhesive spray to make it more rubber like. Or a white battery door with a leather type backing.

I'd say it feels like the same matte smoothness of the back of the q5. It's not glossy and slippery like the iPhone 4.

I almost dropped mine today twice. Not good. I tried to order a clear plastic case but they won't ship to the states. Love the phone though.

If you want to keep with the white, I suggest you getting a screen protector and a case. Try looking into transform case - it's light, thin and protects the phone in every angle.

It's almost a known thing that current white BB10 devices use a different material on the back compared to their black counterparts. Happened with the Z10, the Q10 and now with the Z30. The reason named by BlackBerry for this are fears regarding rather fast wear off for the white materials if they would've included stickier surfaces like they used for the black devices. So to help keeping the clear white surfaces this white as long as possible, they went with smooth, non-sticky surfaces.
