    Hi everyone,

I have the Z10 but am seriously considering the Z30, and USB host is one of the major reasons. I saw in one of the Youtube videos, that via a USB hub, multiple devices can be hooked up (ie: USB key, keyboard, mouse, etc). Has anyone tested to find out the max limits of how many / what type of devices can be connected?

    My main questions are:
    - What is the maximum number of devices that can be connected at one time?
    - Can you plug in multiples of the same type of device? Ie: if I wanted to use the Z30 to transfer files from one hard drive to another.

And, finally, does the USB hub need to be powered (it was powered in the Youtube video I saw)?

Maybe someone with a Z30 can do some testing?

    Thanks!!

Update: bought a z30 and answered my own question. As long as the hard drive is formatted fat32 and you use a powered usb hub, you can plug a hard drive into the z30 in addition to a usb stick and easily copy between the two.

Two hardrives/storage devices/same attachments won't work, one will displace the other.

That's the nature of it I think.

Some phones require a powered usb hub if it's a hardrive while some dont.

Though a flashdrive won't require a powered hub but only a usb otg cable.

I don't know if a powered hub is required for the mouse and keyboard

    *i don't own a z30

    Thanks for the info.

So how about a Usb key and a hard drive? Sounds like you're saying that even that won't be possible?

A USB host can support up to 127 devices in a "tiered star" formation.
You can run out of bandwidth if you use too many of them simultaneously.

Just following up. I finally got my adapter. Plugged in a powered usb hub, and into that a usb card reader with an sd card and a 1tb hard drive, formatted fat32. Both were able to be accessed and I could copy files from one to the other directly. Z30 rocks!

I'm pretty sure you can hook up 2 usbs to a z30 and transfer from one to the other.

I'm sure it's the same for hard drives also

And a powered hub is probably best because then you're sucking the energy from your phone. Which means itll die quicker and the possibility of it not being able to give out enough power to support all devices.

(I don't have a z30, this is just based on my understandings and reviews ive read. I want one pretty badly though lol)

I can confirm the z30 will not run an external hard drive. Works with SD cards, thumb drives though.

Sorry, this is not true. I connected a 1tb drive and it runs just fine. You need to reformat to fat32 as the usb host does not support ntfs.

I guess you didn't read my latest post, just before you posted this. I confirmed that this in fact works just fine.
