I just started my Z10 up after 8 months of hibernation. I've kept it charged and would occasionally connect it to wifi, but hadn't had a SIM card in it since March. The OS update went fine and the password keeper sync'd up perfectly. I'd like to use as my daily phone for a few weeks to make sure it's in good shape. I plan to give it to my son, replacing his 9900.
My big question is how do you sync your contacts if you are switching back and forth between phones? Please tell me how you do it and what issues you have encountered. I have a yahoo email and a Gmail also, but I'm just not sure what the best option is. I have 2350 contacts, so this becomes kind of a big deal if something happens to them. Yes, before I do any of this, I will use BlackBerry Link for a full backup. Thanks

I don't have anywhere near that amount of Contacts. I sync with gmail. But you could also acquire one of the 3rd party backup programs to take periodic "pictures" (backups) of your Contacts. Or you could use the backup apps to copy/move contacts between phones.

I save my contacts on my hotmail account. Exchange ActiveSync on BB10 does a decent job with transferring contacts to another device. I also use the app Ultimate Backup for BlackBerry 10. Works like a charm.

Should I be turning on the "Automatically Merge Contacts"?

    Not sure what that does....

Don't do it. It might screw everything up. It's meant to merge contacts into 1. Say the contact is on Twitter, Facebook and the email account merged into 1.

Merging wouldn't do much then. As long as you don't have duplicates I'd just leave it as is.

That should of prompted password and then ask if you want to sync calendar and contacts.

I did and it did. I entered the password. I selected only the contacts, no calendar or email.

That was a few hrs ago. Now when I select that account in the Contacts screen, I have no contacts listed. Am I not being patient???

I don't use Gmail for contacts so trying to find how you could push the sync. I use outlook so I'm comparing to that.

I use an app called 'InTouchApp contacts'. It's on BlackBerry World.

Try it. It's free and easy to use.

That's not required for what he's asking for. Intouch makes it easier per say but shouldn't need to do that.

Do you see any of these in your Gmail settings? If yes and it's enabled the last thing I can think of is the contacts sync interval or this

You want to make sure that Gmail contacts list is enabled on this page assuming it shows up here.
