I got to see first hand tonight one of the new z30 up close and personal.
    (no photos. Sorry.)

It's going to be awesome to say the least.
I only hope this device will spur some more top apps to make their way to bb10.

This phone will appeal to not only the professional, but to the youth as well.

My z10 looked very small in comparison to the beauty of the z30. ( still love the z10. That won't change ).

Looking forward to the release of this phone for sure.

The fact that you find your Z10 seems small beside it confirms for me that I won't be getting one.. my Z10 is the perfect size.

Glad it's making progress for those that are interested in it though!

How about screen resolution and quality? Is it really 720p?

I didn't get to ask what the actual resolution was, but the clarity was as good as the z10 as far as I could tell. Photos of a recent trip looked fantastic.

I like the size of the z10 as well, but who doesn't love more screen when it comes to Web surfing, spread sheets and photos.

Can it be used with one hand easily? Is it more comfortable to type on the virtual keyboard than on the Z10 for you? How does it look with only a lower color bezel and no top?

Was it smooth and fast? Any info on the specs?

I feel as if its a 2 handed unit for the average user. One handed is possible, but not as comfortable as the z10 one handed.

It was smooth and silky, and wasn't even a final build of the software.

The one thing I noticed was how fast the load times were. Scrolling of photos was very fast and smooth.

    Sorry. No specs.

Not a chance.. hold your Z10 in your right hand and try to reach battery icon with your thumb.. you can barely do it (unless you have giant hands!) How could a phone any bigger be used with one hand?

Im not knocking it.. those who want to carry a small tablet around with them go nuts, glad there's an option for you.. BUT don't kid yourselves. This thing will need two hands to operate. If you are ok with that, then great

I understand you point. A smartphone is rarely one-size-fits-all even if some persons (or company) would like to think (or convince you) so.

I happen to have giant hands and can reach the battery icon without problem, but maybe I am not holding my Z10 the same as you do.

I saw the Z10 on a ski trip in France a few weeks before launch and posted about it. Everyone wanted spec details but I only handled it for a couple of minutes. Anyway, thanks for posting.

Your signature mentions the VIC20. I had one of those. 8k ROM and 8k RAM. Sweet!

Thanks for the post OP. This device looks really good but just like anything else in life, it won't be for everyone. That's why there are more then one phone so people can choose one that fits them best. I live my Z10 but am looking forward to getting a Z30 also

BlackBerry for life. Kick'n it with my Z10.

Please not be, we don't need another Z10 with even less sales.

Uhh it's the screen SIZE, pal, that's important.
FWIW just buy a Z10 then and quit ******** about our bigger screen, thank you.

I can understand the wanting long batter life out of your Blackberry, especially given the fact that the Z30 will not have a removable battery. But this phone is aimed at the consumer market and supposedly gamers; therefore in order to appeal to those users you need to focus on aspects that appeal to them. Sub 300 ppi on a device that is aimed at this market is not impressive at all; however, if the z30 were to have a full 1080p it would have a ppi of 440.

I am guessing that 1080p will be for next year.

1080p x 1080p for the Q11 would be sweet. No one would be able to complain!!

Here is a few questions. Did the device feel substantial in the hand ie iPhone 5 ? Was the screen pitch black with round edges? Was there a metal band like 9900 around phone? Was the space used well on the screen of 5"? How thick was it?

    Thank you

Guess it depends on the size of your hand, but for me it feels much better than the Z10.
    The screen has rounded edges.
There is a thin metal (plastic?) band that connects to the silver bezel under the screen.
Same thickness as the Z10 (give or take a couple MM).
