Ok, disclaimer, completely new to this so apologies up front if this is extremely basic and I'm an *****.

I just received a spanking new Z30 from Verizon today and it is gorgeous! I went through the tutorials and downloaded Snap to get some android apps, only to find an error saying that there is no android installer on board. So checked and found out that I have 10.2.0.262 version of the OS and both the phone update check and BB link say it's the latest and greatest. Am I missing something or shouldn't I be able to get to 10.2.1? What should I do next!?

Uninstall Snap, then you need to upgrade to 10.2.1 FIRST before you can reload snap and install Android apps. Verizon is on the verge of releasing 10.2.1 which you can wait for, OR you can go here and load up a leak.....

HAHA! Verizon is always on the verge of sending out something!
Seriously tho, you will be more satisfied if you load up the OS yourself cause no telling WHEN they will send it out. Basically no 10.2.1 then no android apps.

Good job on checking official channels first! To move up to 10.2.1.xxxx, you'll have to load a (appropriate) leaked OS onto your device. The leak threads (BB10 Leaked/Beta OS - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com) are the best place to go to find lots of useful information. Take care to load the right one for your variant of phone. Although these processes sound intimidating, they aren't and you'll be up and running in no time! And of course, many are here to help if you get stuck! Good luck, and congratulations on that Z30!

OK thanks all, I'm off to give this a shot, with any luck you won't hear me sobbing in a couple hours! One last question, using Sachesi I need country code and variant although given the wiki list the US for Verizon can be 310 or 311 which do I choose??

Although you might need (want) to get an OS from another country (although T-Mobile recently released the latest 10.2.1)

To get it up and running on the known latest non-Verizon version:
    http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...l#post10117299

This will load the T-Mobile release 10.2.1.2228 onto your Verizon Z30 with no problems.
Just make sure you do the one file swap as described.
Once it is loaded, you can delete the T-Mobile only apps (T-Mobile account, WiFi calling, etc..) and then load Snap and have fun on the android side

Here is my screen shot in that thread, showing my proof of install on my Verizon Z30, STA100-3:

Yes, no Sachesi thought, right? Just an autoloader?

    Wait I just found this!!
    Thanks for posting this dagreyfox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes...open Sachesi....download 2228 using this credentials in Sachesi:
    Country: 310
    Carrier: 160
    Device: Z10
    Variant: STL 100-3

After that delete this file (qc8960-10.2.1.2229-nto+armle-v7+signed) in the dowloaded folder and substitute it with this one for Z30: http://cdn.fs.sl.blackberry.com/fs/q...-v7+signed.bar

Is this file compatible with all Z30 variants or with the Verizon one only?

Would like to upgrade my -2 to the latest and greatest

Is the Z30 radio includes when I download the os which the codes / settings you mentioned?
EDIT: I guess the file to swap is the radio, isn't it?

NOW you can sideload Snap and be able to install Android apps. (also, you will need to go in to the device settings, swipe down from the main screen, click settings, then App Manager, then Installing Apps, and turn on Allow Apps from Other Sources to be Installed)

Also you can and might want to install the Amazon App store for paid apps, as it DOES let you buy apps. NOW you should check here ahead of time to make sure the app you want works, because not all Android apps for on BB10, about 80% work.

For instagram I'd recommend Igrann, which is a native third-party instagram app. A really good app

Wow, I love reading these kinds of threads. Not only did all of you CrackBerrians assist a "new guy" to making sure he upgraded his Z30 without a hitch, an old timer like me just learned how to upgrade MY Z30 to 2228 using the handy Sachesi app. I thought this update was for the Z10 only and I had to wait.

It makes me proud to be a BlackBerry fan.

Could you kindly repost the VZ z30 radio file or compile a VZ autoloader. For some reason I can't seem to be able to get the file through the posted link. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks very much

Yes indeed! Install Link software on your PC (to get the needed drivers), power it up, connect to the computer and run the autoloader to upgrade to the newest OS. Then set up your phone.

Thanks. I know I am being a little tentative, but I don't want to mess this up. I'll search for the autoloader instructions, since this thread seems to be about a different method.
