What I find interesting is that people seem eager to find deeper meanings in every non event.
It was common knowledge that everybody (carriers, blackberry, distributors, accessory makers) got burned badly by
the z10. And it didn't have to happen, but everybody got caught up in the hype. Blackberry's biggest losses were writing off
inventory. This lead to the carriers being extremely gun shy about the z-30. Verizon sold out of, or is close to, the z30 production run.
Not sure, but probably does not make any economic sense to build another run, if that's even possible (modern components have a
very short inventory life, and "substitutions" don't work without a great deal of investment and pain).

As to the Passport, I got my z10 at least 3-4 months AFTER release of gsm models (on day one). I'm pretty sure my Z30 had a similar
lag. If Verizon decided to carry the Passport yesterday, as with the z10 and z30, in all likelihood you probably wouldn't be able to
order it until after the first of the year anyway. At this point, BOTH Blackberry and Verizon's concerns lie with keeping corporate
customers happy. If they can sell to end users at the same time, then great. But keep in mind, we're not their primary concern, and
    we shouldn't be.

Just have to wait and see what Verizon does, and we won't know for probably quite a while.

Glad I got the phone just before they stopped selling it...called 100% times finally gave me the phone for 100 bucks back in July but reset my two year contract for now lol...well worth it though. Guess if something new comes out and it breaks the insurance will give me what ever new BB is out.

Also, BB fans tend to be a little obsessive as well, skewing the rate of reviews
I wrote my review based on the phone and its performance a few days after I got it. Z10 for 3 months prior to getting my z30 was the first BlackBerry I've ever owned. The 2 best smart phone I have ever owned. Doesn't give me time to reach fan status. I just get irritated when people say the only reason they got good reviews was because of rabid BlackBerry fans.

Here is the only place I could find for the screen. Z30 CDMA version (Verizon):

Here is a battery (the battery is the same for the GSM and Verizon models):

Be really careful when you buy the screen assembly. Be sure to get the right one for your type of Z30. The GSM model and the CDMA (Verizon) model are completely different. They are different in size and the number and placement of screws to hold the screen in.

Verizon wasn't the exclusive carrier for the Z30, they were the only carrier from the big 4 (T-Mo, AT&T & Sprint) that was willing to carry the phone. The other carriers passed on the phone Even though I am on T-Mo, I went to a Verizon store last year to check out the Z30. They had a model in stock in a distant corner with the other BB10 phones and some Moto phones. It was the "Dead Man Walking" spot because no one came one to talk to you, only if you stopped by the iphone or samsung phones.

They were the exclusive carrier for the Z30 in the USA. That's what I meant.

The battery listing says it's only GSM compatible, specifically says no Verizon. I assume it's because it's the entire middle assembly and if you could remove the battery alone it would work.

Don't be concerned about the listing for the battery saying it is for GSM only. You are really only interested in the battery and that is the same for GSM or Verizon models. The battery is held in place with some kind of sticky tape and can be pried out using a plastic tool. Do NOT use a metal tool because you will damage the battery. Here is a video that shows the whole screen and battery replacement. Watch the whole video and like I said before. Do NOT remove the battery with a metal tool.

I would like to know the same thing. I just got my Z30 about 3-4 months ago. What if it breaks. It's still under warranty and I would want another one to replace it. Is Verizon going to try and give me a different phone?

No, as of yesterday Verizon is sending me a replacement Z30. The tech helping me said it would likely be a new one as they get very few returned BlackBerrys. I'm supposed to receive it today and am really hoping it's not a refurbished Z30. I will update later after receiving replacement.

This is disappointing. I would like to buy a Z30 for the larger screen and battery life. I love my Z10 and the OS now that it is more mature than when launched. Not falling in love with the Passport yet.
