I'm contemplating on pulling the trigger on a Z30 but need some clarification before I do so.

Currently running an unlocked Z10 with 10.2.0.1803. No leaks ever installed, so it's been stock official updates only.

All my contacts and calender are synced with various email providers such as Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.. I don't have any local contacts and don't care about my local calender. BBM contacts I'm not worried about since they should be stored on the BlackBerry side of things. All my files are stored on SD card as well, so nothing is local.

Question is, if I were to upgrade to the Z30, what would be best way for my data such as BBM conversations and text messages to get transferred to the Z30? Also, what about all my apps? How would they get transferred over to the Z30 as well? I don't have any side loaded apps or anything like that. Everything was downloaded via BlackBerry World. That includes some of the 25 days giveaway. Some of those o just hit download but cancelled in order to keep free, but never installed.

I believe when you do a full backup in BlackBerry Link, it should save your text messages. As for the apps, I think you would have to reinstall them from BlackBerry World.

Sounds like you'll be good with just a Link backup. If you want check out sms backup and fire chest for an extra layer. I've heard good things about contactsx as well.

I used the device switch function in BlackBerry Link. Worked great!
Texts, apps, settings, media. All there.

Unfortunately, you have to save bbm conversation separately and can't import them.
