I use a blackberry pocket pouch as soon as I stop using the phone, it goes in the pouch which immediately turns off the screen. I reduced the timeout of the display to off after 5 secs.
I noticed immediately after using the pocket pouch the battery life increased heaps.
That's how I can honestly drag out the battery life on this phone...

I have and do the same thing. Also my brightness is about all the way down unless I'm outside in the sun. I don't need it any brighter, it's fine way down indoors.

I agree!! My battery has been really outstanding. 3G data all day long (even though I have wifi networks around me. Managed 2 full days, and had some more juice left for a good couple of hours, even when I used the phone quite frequently (this can be seen with the figure 25% for display usage). =D

The Z30 battery life is just excellent. Never in my life had a phone having to recharge every 5 hours like my previous Nexus 5.

You have a 30? Where is your screen brightness? Connection that aren't connected to anything off? Little things. What I can't believe with mine is I always heard how much battery wifi hotspot eats up fast and I do that for 7 hours or so. Granted the screen isn't on much doing that.

Also another thing on to save even more battery, have a dark or really dark home screen background.
It might not seem that it will take up much but every bit counts. Also when I put the phone into bedside mode, I have the option ticked to turn off all radios. This wouldn't work if you were say on call for work but if you know that your not going to have anyone call you during that time, it drops the standby usage by quite a bit.
I also have my Mail checking done every 15 min to half an hour unless it's push activated, currently got 3 accounts on here and the PIM services usage of the battery are small.

I'm with you. I must use mine more than most. I'm up at 5:30 or so, and the phone is 75-80% when I get to work. I ride the train to work and probably use more than most, though.

Something is wrong here. You either happen to have a prototype Z30 with 5k mAh or you don't use your phone at all. I'd put my bid on the latter.

If you use a pocket pouch, your screen instantly goes off. I use Bedside mode overnight with all radios turned off. You can get much more battery life if you do some tweaking in the settings.
NFC off, BT off (unless in use), Wifi on (unless out of range), screen brightness 0%, media sharing off, location services off, timeout of screen 5 seconds. Do that in conjunction with using a pocket pouch or using a cover with a small magnet in it.

I do seriously use this phone.... Try out the settings above, you should have a remarkable diffrence.

I don't know man, I'm not complaining about battery, but you can tell when I use mine. If I picked it up for five minutes you can tell on this graph.

I'm sure he mentioned he's on "3G all day". Using my Z30 in VZW LTE sure seems to take a bite out of the battery life. It's still spectacular, but definitely not days...
