Just got my Z30 and I've already backed up my Z10, but when attempting to restore on my Z30 using my Z10 backup, it won't work as the OS versions are different. Ive have all the update version enhancements, but the Z10 and Z30 version are not the same and there's nothing else I can do.

    So now what?

    Thx

Try to use "FireChest BackUp" it's a free App in the BB-World. The developer is very kind and welcomes every suggestion/question if sticked.
    Look at his/their internet page...
He created the software mainly for ppl like you who swich BB10 to BB10...
    You need a dropbox account.
    Backup using Firechest from Z10
    Restore using Firechest from Z30

Encrypting data makes it last longer, but safer coz dropbox changed terms, they allow data controle...

I contacted the developer of FireChestBackUp, he/they is/are working on an option to save to SD-Card or to PC coming soon.

If you can't wait, save as I said above, then delete from dropbox once done.

Thx, that is sounding like my only option at present, but that will take a while to upload to Dropbox and then back down..2.6 GB.

Z30s around the world now have 10.2.1.xxx so I'm sure you can update and have them both on same OS as well. I did mine using Sachesi method which worked well

    No...
    First, the data is "compressed"
You transfer Calendar, Contacts, Remember data... it is saved as a .json and .fcb files and take 800kb-2MB each... If you encrypt, takes more time. But I was done within 30 min.
DropBox is only 2GB free space.
But as said, the data is not taken as it is but compressed/coded otherwise.
Here's a screenshot... I don't need to backup images, documents or download folders, I'd just transfer them "manually".

That's not the most current or recent version of OS for Z30.. but you can always go the other route as suggested

SW update says it's the most current...I'm not interested in going through the backdoor to try and do it either. Geez...I thought this was gonna be painless. Thanks BB

It is painless as long as your willing to a little leg work yourself. Would you prefer someone actually come to your house and do it for you?

What network are you on? Sorry about all the questions but these are vital things we need to know. Sachesi is ultra simple and minimal risk is involved (trust me, if I did it you certainly can). I'm not one to install any leaks or backdoor softwares so go with me on this. Update your Z30 and transfer will be a breeze.

Just a quick follow up. I updated the Z30 I'm currently using via the Sachesi method but I also have another Z30 here that I'm keeping to send for someone and that device received an OS update notification while on wifi with no sim inserted. Both are factory unlocked phones however so that's another suggestion for you. Remove sim and check on wifi for software updates.

Downloaded Saceshi but it's not compatible with MAC 10.9.2 (most current). Hence my ongoing challenge, but I can try removing the SIM...

I assume you haven't set up anything on the Z30 yet, so loading the same software as your Z10 has nothing to get rid of.

You should have 10.2.1.1925 on your Z10 (stock Verizon OS), so find the loader for 10.2.1.1925 for Z30, download that, run that with your phone plugged in and try the restore again.

Edit: Oh, Mac. Loaders are Windows only, but Sachesi should be Mac-compatible (except Mavericks, evidently).

Sachesi is not compatable (doesn't run) on Mac 10.9.2

Well honestly I would just do a fresh setup. All your apps will be tied to your ID and your emails will be synched over so nothing to lose but a bit of time. I'm sure you will enjoy your z30 experience.

Thanks for sticking with me True. Can you advise again on how to perform a fresh setup? And won't I still have the version issues?

    Tch.

    Try this: http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-ti...our-os-814749/

Open the .bbb file made from your old device with your archiver of choice, edit the manifest inside according to the guide and try to restore from the backup again.

No just insert your sim and memory card. From there open the setup app and it's easy from there. Put in your BlackBerry ID and email accounts etc. This way it will be a clean setup too. Not long ago I had to do a factory reset because of an issue I had with Blaq and ever since I noticed my battery life is much improved so this may be a blessing in disguise for you as well.

You can also use the above link to actually fool the system. I've seen that method being recommend also.

NONE of you suggestions work for a MAC. Even BB Backup Extractor isn't compatible with BB10 OS yet. This is a royal PIA.
