Yes, you will sometimes get a Verizon phone to work well in certain locations on the TMo network. However, because there are very few bands which the carriers have in common,
You may find that you will run into situation with zero coverage for large swaths of geography.
I found this dangerous, and got a STA 5 from Canada. This is 100% compatible with TMo bands.

I read about tmo's announcement yesterday about the upgrading and refarming their network. So now, looks like im getting LTE on those bands now. Before it was Just 4G (HSPA)

The Verizon Z30 has the T-Mobile band 4 LTE band (This is the band Verizon is now using for the new XLTE). The only problem is that if you leave an LTE area the phone will then only operate at 2G. The Verizon Z30 does not have the T-Mobile 3G/4G bands.

It has all T-Mobile bands except AWS HSPA. So won't get HSPA in non-refarmed markets. I though refarm was over though.

The Verizon STA100-3 is missing the AWS band (1700) only. You are correct. Also, if I am not mistaken, T-Mobile re-farmed all AWS/HSPA+ to 1900 so missing the 1700 AWS band shouldn't matter. Wow, I didn't realize the STA100-3 was so compatible with T-Mobile. Maybe I should drop my T-Mobile SIM in my Verizon phone and see what I get.

I still get no signal in certain areas, so it's not all good over here. I'll try this out before I finalize my Verizon decision.

Well I gave it a shot and put my active T-Mobile SIM in my Verizon Z30. I got nothing but gsm or edge. No 3G/4G no LTE. My area has LTE and was re-farmed ( i think) for the HSPA+ to 1900. I think Verizon locks out 3G/4G and LTE from other carriers because no matter where I went in my area I got gsm or edge only. I tried this with .3175 and .3247 firmware. What firmware were you using OP?
