If that trend continues BlackBerry really needs to issues carrier independent updates for unlocked devices, otherwise those who buy it outright will never get updates officially.
Is that a good or bad thing? My Z30 rocks! I just don't know why BlackBerry is not advertising property. It's such a great device but no one at blackberry seems to be worried about this lack of marketing. If I wasn't a BlackBerry supporter probably I'll never be aware of this great device. Sad...
See if you can help me please.
I'm looking to switch from iPhone to Z30. I am with 3 Network, So if I use my 3 sim in the Z30 would I not get official updates?

You will be able to use the 3 sim card with the z30 no problems. Not sure about device updates but if 3 aren't carrying BlackBerry devices then u may not get any os updates from them. But all is not lost, you could get the phone unlocked or buy one unlocked and just pick up a Vodafone payg sim card. When an os update comes up, just stick the voda sim in, download and install the update then put your original sim card back in and voila u have the latest update. Reason I say Vodafone is usually they are the first to release the os updates compared to the other networks.
Unlocking the phone shouldn't cost u more than 20 from the high street.

I'm with 3 Austria which also doesn't carry the Z30, however I got a software update when I set up the device. So maybe BlackBerry is putting out updates to carriers that don't carry the device. Not sure.
However if that isn't the case, you can still update your Z30 from your PC with the Sachesi tool. http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...taller-825409/
If there is an update out, you can just download it from the Search tab and then install all the downloaded files in the install tab. It's usually reported on the forum when an official update comes out and on which carrier.
No wonder you are a CB Genius; updating with a Vodafone sim is a fantastic idea ... So i'll keep that in mind if it doesn't update via Three. Yes I intend to buy an unlocked handset, will probably be getting it from Amazon
I've wanted the Z10/Z30 for a good while. Couple of things, especially the missing Contact Group feature, is what has kept me from switching from iPhone . On my iPhone I have created Groups and use an app to send SMS to a Group of customers. Reading around this forum I take it that in the new BB update - 10.2.1- I think, this feature is back. So I guess I can send a mass-text. There's around 200 of my customers who require a twice-a-week text you see.
Are you running this update by any chance?
Thank you again. Xxxxx
Hmm thats a bit funny isn't it. Come to think of it, they do carry Z10 and some other BB phones so maybe Z30 should get updated too. Well balls to 'em anyway... at least there's ways to get around
I just bought the Z30. Unfortunately for you, now I know where to come and who to bug if I have any problems with it that needs fixing

Yes, contact groups are back. Haven't tried with 200 people, but with a small group it's working fine.
