You might need to go to your provider, not only because the z30 uses a different type of Sim card but because the z30 also doesn't use BIS anymore

I don't think it matters if he updates his data from bis to "normal" data. I still have bis in my data plan and it seems to just bypass it.

The problem is you'll first of all you'll have to cut your SIM down to fit a nano Sim slot, and secondly, your existing Sim card probably goes only as high as HSPA+ band, and your Z30 is designed to operate at 4G / LTE band. Best bet is to go to your provider, update your account, and get a new Sim card.

Z30 is not a Nano SIM. Passport and Classic are Nano.

They are. You'll still have to cut it down to use it on a Z30.

My son had a Torch 9860, and when he upgraded to the Z10, had to have his Sim cut to size to fit, but his Z10 afterwards would only get 4G coverage, so eventually he updated his account and got a new Sim card so he could get LTE.

When I purchased my Z10 privately I checked legitimacy at Verizon and they provided a new sim card for free. I kept my 9930 intact with its original sim card. When I moved to the Z30, again, a private purchase, I again had Verizon check if it was legal, they merely moved the sim card from the Z10 and activated it for me. No issues with my private purchases nor moving my account to the new devices.

    Just remember...
Since BB10 doesn't use BIS anymore, your data plan might not be enough.

BB10 doesn't compact your data like BIS did and you'll be using a lot more data than you're used to in the past.
