I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have it?

Just got a z30 and see that it's not showing ims status. I'm not near any Wifi yet, so just wanted to be sure before I went on a quest.

Even though the STA100-5 is 100% compatible with T-Mobile it won't get wifi calling. I asked them if there was a work around and they said that only phones they officially carried (Z10/Q10) will work.

Maybe a really smart person could figure out how to make it work but so far as I know no one has found a work around yet. As far as T-Mobile goes it's not supported.

The whole cutting off of T-Mobile by BlackBerry doesn't make it likely it will happen. Even if things were patched up between the two companies I think it's too late for the Z30. I doubt they'll carry the Classic or Passport either unless things change drastically. Hopefully BlackBerry will make a model of the Classic that is completely compatible with T-Mobile like they did with the Q5 SQR100-1 and Z30 STA100-5.

    Nope, not on my Z30.

The T-Mobile Business App section isn't visible in BlackBerry App World, and even when I go to my Available apps, where it usually shows up because it's on my Q10 and Z10, it's not there at all.

That's another good point. No T-Mobile section of BBW on non supported BlackBerry's.

Yeah, but it does show up on my white Q10 that was unlocked from Shop For BlackBerry, which my Z30 is too.

But I think you're right, where the Wi-Fi Calling does appear for that white Q10 because the app has already been made for the t-mobile Q10 (even though the model number is different SQN).

BB10 is hard coded to not enable WiFi calling on anything but the TMO variant Z10/Q10 hardware ID's

If you want it, BlackBerry would have to issue an updated BB10 release with the change applied to enable it for other hardware.

Yeah that makes sense. It must read it as a Q10 and thats all it needs. It's kinda neat to find out thing some that.

That's not quite correct. With the Z10 it will allow wifi-calling (on t-mo of course) on any 100-3 variant. RFK121LW (used on T-MO and others) or the RFF91LW (At&t and others).

My first z10 was an unbranded one from BlackBerry direct, and the spare was an unlocked AT&T, and Wifi calling definitely worked on both variants.

Look in your connections and you will see ims status, which is what swaps the cell signal to the Wifi in your home.

What I meant to say is that WiFi calling is allowed/denied in BB10 based on the hardware id.

So why are people saying that identical Android phones to the T-mo branded version, are being denied? Same reason? They weren't denied under Kineto. I can see a certain model (100-1, 100-2, all Z30 etc.) being denied. But to exclude otherwise identical devices seems counter to T-Mo's chant of "bring your own phone". Like going back to the UMA days.

There is an internal hardware ID for each phone model. When BB10 inits, the installed SIM card triggers a set of configuration files, which enable/disable internal settings based on what the carrier requires.

In the case of TMO, the wifi calling settings are enabled only if the phone is one of a short list of hardware ID's. Basically there is a default setup, and an exception list. The STL100-3 is on the exception list, as is whatever Q10 it is that they sold. The default setup does not enable WiFi calling.

We'd either need the default setup modified to activate WiFi calling, or exceptions added for additional phone models.

Yo does anybody know anyone with a German z30? From what I understand they come with WiFi calling as any other tmobile device. So maybe just maybe we can extract the WiFi calling bar file from such device install it on a matching stl device and have WiFi calling work on it?

There are a few carriers besides T-Mo that have some form of wifi-calling. But the chances of those services actually working on t-mo usa are probably zero.

No. The T-Mobile Wifi calling provisions aren't included in the radio files code, thus disabling the IMS connections from the connection menu.
