I picked up a STA100-5 for use on AT&T. The lack of AT&T LTE held me back for a while, but I finally decided to pull the trigger anyway.

Out of curiosity I downloaded Speedtest from Snap on both my Z10 (which does get LTE) and my Z30. I have been running it in different parts of Dallas to keeping the results. My best speeds so far:

    Z30 on 4G
    DL 13.02 Mbps
    UL 1.63 Mbps

    Z10 on LTE
    DL 8.82 Mbps
    UL 2.79 Mbps

I only have one SIM so I have to swap it back and forth to run the test, but from the looks of it, I am not missing much. It appears the upload speeds on LTE are far greater, but the download speeds are similar.

    What are your results?

I have a Z30 -5 on ATT and don't get LTE. However I have not noticed a different in speed at all from my Z10. I think your test is probably quite true for most.

Those are pretty weak speeds sorry to say, just compared my home wifi to my Rogers LTE in Ontario using a Z30:

Don't worry, everyone here gets sad when they get their bills at the end of the month lol.

I guess that's the trade off, but personally I'm willing to spend extra when I get something in return.

Wow, now I am sad again.

In New York City certain locations
    LG G2, 4G LTE, gets 1.5mbps down, 0.5mbps up on AT&T, I used to get 2-3 bars.
Max I saw was about 2mbps.

Z30, 4G, at the exact same spot, I am getting 5 bars and 3mbps down, 1mbps up.
I usually get around 5 to 8mbps which is more than enough for me, but even when it hovers around 2mbps in certain locations on 4G I am cool with that too.

Here you , don't be sad.

When you have LTE, make sure you get full bats before a test. If you have 1 or 2 less than full, it really slows down. Same with 4g. Just from my experience.

If you want great data speed in any big US city you have to be on T-Mobile, period. I'm in NYC and TMO is mopping the floor with everybody for YEARS now (3G, HSPA+ and now LTE), hands down - add in the lowest prices and there's the reason why I stick around... if you go way out to the sticks it's a different story as I heard but that does not matter to me.

AT&T's LTE speeds in Chicago are...meh. Funny enough, I have AT&T U-verse at home for Internet service as well. As you can see from my results, my LTE speeds are faster than my wifi connection at home, which is sad. :-(

We tried to switch to T-Mobile last fall, ordered a Q10 and two Z10's with overnight shipping. Next day came and went and no phones. To make a long story short they lost the phones in their warehouse before they shipped. UPS never received the package from T-Mobile. T-Mobile refused to re-ship the phones or issue a refund until they found the phones and they charged us for service on devices we never received from them.

Worst customer service I have ever dealt with. The workers including supervisors act like they could care less about the customer or the company they work for.

Ended up contacting our CC company and having the charges reversed and called T-Mobile and told them I was not paying for service for phones that they lost or someone stole from their warehouse. If they were the last cell company on earth I would rather use soup cans and a string for communication.

That's not the case in Chicago. I've used T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon. For me, Verizon was consistently the best in terms of call quality, fewest dropped calls, and speed. I had Verizon while my wife was on AT&T for a while & she could barely stream music via Rhapsody on T-Mobile. She had a 2 minute delay between songs while it buffered. Meanwhile, I had the same Bold on Verizon & songs played immediately.

I switched to AT&T last year to get the Z10. I'm happy but not thrilled with AT&T. They're much better than T-Mobile in my opinion.

Which is why I'm this close to keeping my new unlocked -3 Z30 on the Verizon network here in Chicagoland, where the LTE coverage and speed is fantastic. Thanks for your informative report on the slow at&t LTE network around here.

If you have a Z30 on Verizon's network, a switch to AT&T would be a downgrade, so you're doing the right thing! Too many dead spots on Lake Shore Drive with AT&T. I never had that in Verizon!

I'd like to dump AT&T for mobile AND home Internet because they're both far too slow! At home, my Comcast speeds were twice as fast when I had them. I switched to U-verse for whole house DVR, which I believe Comcast may now offer as well!

These tests are In my house, Northwest Washington, a small town, not a great signal.
    First one is AT&T Z10 STL100-3 LTE
Second one is Verizon Z30 STA100-3 with my AT&T SIM in it connecting at 4G.
Third one is Verizon Z10 Z10STL100-4 on Verizon LTE
    Comcast is my ISP.

    Okay, this is weird.
I just bought an STA100-5 with the intent to sell it to a Z10 client currently using a Z10 on AT&T.

I inserted my Verizon SIM card in and it didn't work at all.
I put my AT&T SIM in and it worked, but the data rate was actually slower than my Verizon STA100-3 was with the AT&T SIM in it.

The time of day was different, not sure if that might make a difference and I ran it again outside the house.
