STA100-3 BlackBerry Z30 Variant Will Have Wireless Charging-screen-shot-2013-10-08-11.03.01-pm.jpg
Guess maybe Verizon having the exclusive is accurate and well, whoever else gets the STA100-3.

That'll be awesome to have that. Hope it's true and the Z30 gets here before official holiday shopping season. (USA)

Would it not be just a matter of changing the back cover for one that supports wireless charging, as in the Nokia lumia?

Doubt it. There have to be some pins visible at the back for the cover to connect to. Don't see any on my z30.

So why would they name the Verizon version the STA 100-3 when the ATT version of the Z10 is STL 100-3? Anyone know which version of the STA is going to be the ATT one?

If this is true then....I KNEW IT!

Verizon Z30s are slightly thicker. People were saying it's because of the dual CDMA antennas. I didn't buy that.

But why is Blackberry so hush hush about this.

Just another thing to split blackberry supporters. Kinda sad. I mean, cone on, a thing to make the phone good, and then put it selectively for carriers. Is this us or are outside unlocked us phones with unaffected and have this "feature "

    Most likely the STA100-1

Honestly, I'm surprised they chose to "give" this to the one-carrier Verizon -3 variant, and not to the -1 (the North American variant that'll be used by more carriers,) or the -2.

Wireless charging is a big feature. For me it would be a good reason to upgrade from my z10, but as I'm on AT&T.... I wonder about the "behind the scenes" motivation to give Verizon the exclusive.

Because they are trying to keep the biggest carrier in the US happy. It keeps BlackBerry phones on the shelves. AT&T will then follow along and keep phones on the shelves because they don't want to concede a product to Verizon and lose any government or corporate customers.

Just got my z30 from Telus and sad to say it's not the sta-3.... Telus is selling the sta-5 and apparently they will not be getting the 3.

Is it just me or do I find Wireless Charging unappealing due to potentially slower charge time than a typical 10W (5V/2A) cable charger.

Just my two cents though, hope I'm wrong.

You're not alone. I consider it in it's current form a gimmick as well. Not only the slow charge issue you mentioned, but also the fact that's it just as bad as wired in that you need to keep it connected to (or, right on) the charging source. Move it away, and the charging stops.

There do seem to be some improvements coming though, on the slow charging end. Hopefully it doesn't require a ton of exploded batteries to perfect
