True. Maybe he could claim the proximity sensor failed?

Claim that the sensor spazzed out, overheated phone, and phone started to crack

Yes and this may be one if those rare instances where it's worth it to pay the deductible. But if you bought it from someone else that may be a hassle.

A place in mississauga can replace that screen. It's right across from square one. They even have mail in. Technospace.Blackberry Repair | Toronto - Mississauga | 1 Hour Repair

Omg that sucks man. I would get another one and fix the screen whenever those become more readily available. I know it's tough but worse things have happened to some.

Very fixable, just over $100 though. Cheaper than buying a new one, and you can do the first tear down video for us!

I think Rogers is now selling off contract but Telus not doing so is very puzzling. I know the one in STC told me they would sell outright anytime after the 18th November. You can also try the Kijiji route but only the warranty

PBookster, plug HDMI into a screen, plug a USB keyboard and mouse (through a hub) into the port. You should be able to see and control it. Install Fire Chest Backup and take a backup. Get what you can off it.

I feel for you PlayBookster. If it hasn't got phone insurance maybe your home insurance will cover it. If that was me I'd be planning on pawning my Xmas presents to get another

I've destroyed a BlackBerry before so know the feeling

Knowing that you don't have insurance on the device, i feel for your loss PlayBookster.

Unexpected expense is never nice, especially not around the holidays.
