I need some opinions everyone. Has anyone jumped from Q10 to Z30? Did you think it was worth it? How did you adjust to not having the physical keyboard anymore? Is the battery a lot better than Q10 or about the same? And is the voice quality in call good on speakerphone and ear piece?

Let me know please! I was going to wait for the rumored Z50 but who knows if that is happening at all, and if it is I'm sure it's close to a year away from actual release.

    Thanks!

PS Is anyone using Z30 on Rogers in Toronto? How is reception and how is LTE signal?

Yes. I switched because of the keyboard problem and haven't looked back I think you would love it. The big screen helps with the typing problems.

I have had both the Z10, Q10, and now the Z30. I used multiple BlackBerry Curves and a Bold. The Z30 is by far the best phone BlackBerry has ever produced (I believe) . I do not miss typing on the physical keyboard. Find a buddy that has used it for a while who can show the features.

Do you find having LTE on drains the battery? I currently keep LTE off on my Q10 in order to make it through the day with battery. And I also usually only get 2-3 bars LTE on Q10, do you get full bars?

The battery difference between the devices is nite and day, and one little tip I never turn wifi and Bluetooth off and always have it on LTE and you will easily make it through the day.

I went from 8830 to 9800 to 9900 to Z30. No q10 for me, though I certainly wouldn't kick one out of my bed for eating crackers. having used the keyboards for years up until about 6 months ago, I can give a good case for pros and cons of blackberry physical vs virtual. This of course my own experience, I am not some scientist that researches this for a living.

    Physical Pros:
    -Keyboard shortcuts
-Easier to type accurately when not looking at the keys.
-Really liked the look and feel of the keys.

    Physical Cons:
-Tactile presses do cause strain on thumbs faster over long sessions.
    -Takes from screen real estate.

    Virtual Pros:
    -Word prediction (flick typing)
-Gesture deletion (swiping right to left over the keyboard will delete words at a time.
-Personally, my typing speed has doubled. It took some getting used to but a gentle touch can be accomplished and recovered from faster than a button press. This adds up when you consider it happens several hundred times per minute.
-Typing endurance has more than tripled. Thumb muscles almost never get sore unless I am going nonstop for hours. Also the thumb tips never get sore.
-Can be hidden away when you are done typing.

    Virtual Cons:

Can't feel the keys. This makes it hard to learn to type accurately without looking. But if you stick with it, you'll get it. Also the auto correct is good enough to help you along the way.

    Final notes:
I feel the switch was well worth it. There was a 2-week adjustment phase before I got my speed and accuracy back up to where I was with my bold 9900. But then I just kept getting faster as I learned to make my thumb movements softer. The OS7 system really benefitted from the keyboard shortcuts as there were a ton of them. It was almost cumbersome to try to do anything without them. BB10 UI on the other hand is 1000 times more efficient and doesn't really "require" shortcuts as much. Though again, I don't have a Q10, I don't know what kb shortcuts it has, but I believe the screen UI is the same as the Z30.

I may sound a little biased towards the Z30 and that's because I am totally in love with it. I had intended to get a Q10 when it came out, but the loss of what they are now referring to as "the tool belt" kinda left me debating for a long time. I assure you, my next phone is going to be a Q20. I'll double fist it with my Z30 and they'll just have to be friends.

I got a Z30 and have the Z10 and Q10. I love them all! I didn't give away my Q10 or anything, I still have it, so I can go back to the keyboard whenever.

But I type very well on the Z30, it's a lot bigger than the Z10, which now feels a little cramped, but not too bad. The Q10 and the Z30 are really really different, but already, I'm starting to do more "media" things, like watch a few more YouTube videos, listen to music on my phone a little more, and download more games. The Z30 is the perfect device for someone who values a great keyboard and wants to do some of the other things that iPhone and Android users do.

I'm not a big gamer, but the Z30's screen makes playing games fun. The screens of the Z30 and Q10 have very similar colors, where they're deep and rich. While the Z30's screen might not have the PPI numbers that the Z10 does, to me it is not noticeably worse. I've never been like, "WOW, this SUCKS on my Z30, it looked SO much better on my Z10!"

The Z30 has the best virtual keyboard and an even better battery than the Q10's which is good to begin with. I think you should get one. Keep your Q10 around for a while though, it's nice to have a few devices

I hope so, because I would say I have extreme heavy use. Browsing, BBM, all day, plus the odd phone calls, and I listen to internet radio for about two hours a day on network, and then also on wifi when I come home. Think that will last the day? On Q10 that sometimes get me through the day, sometimes a few hours short. I just want to be able to do what ever I want with my phone and not worry about the battery until I go home to sleep and charge.

Honestly, only you can answer that question.

My Z30 is an upgrade from a iPhone 5, and I consider it to be the best smartphone I have ever owned. By far.

But I have never used a Q10 as my daily driver, and until I do, I will remain curious about it.

I once owned a Curve 8530 and used it as my primary device for several months. As great as the keyboard is on the Z30, I still feel like I would type more efficiently and faster with a physical keyboard. This has more to do with how my brain and fingers work, and less to do with any deficiencies a virtual keyboard might have.

I rarely use the flick-up-to-complete-a-word feature on my Z30. I just prefer to type out words in their entirety without the use of auto-complete or auto-correct. I think a physical keyboard would cater more to this approach.

In fact, for kicks and grins, I just bought a Bold 9930 from a fello CB member in the Marketplace out of sheer curiosity about OS 7 (because of the recent announcement by BB to continue Bold 9900 series production) and also to try out arguably the best physical keyboard ever made for a smartphone to see if my feeling is correct!

I would love to try the Z30, however fiscal realities would mean I'd have to sell my Q10.

    First world problems for sure.

I went from the Z10 to the Q10 and finally the Z30. In the past I used different BlackBerry Bolds. For me it's stil difficult to determine which I like best. The Z30 surpasses the Z10 in every way, but the Q10 is so different. When I'm travelling I like browsing on the big Z30 screen, reading emails easier without scrolling all the time. When I'm at work and I have to quickly call, text, BBM or email, the Q10 is way faster and easier to operate (one handed) than the Z30. I like the software keyboards on the Z's, but for me nothing beats a nice qwerty keyboard. Both devices are well built, and for me battery life is about equal. The only thing I hate, is to keep switching SIM's between them!

Awesome. You're going to love it. Mine was delivered last Saturday and except for like 2 hours on Monday, I've used my Z30 nonstop since then. You're smart for doing the 2 days shipping. I didn't, and the wait almost killed me. I swear, it's like the best feeling to get a cool new phone, and the Z30 is definitely a cool new phone.

I did the opposite and went from a Z30 to a Q10 primarily because of the reduced sized / improved form factor and keyboard. I'm very happy with my choice, but the Z30 is an awesome phone as well.

I switched from the Q10 to the Z30. It was my first all touch screen phone and while I don't type as good as I did on my Q10 the Z30s screen is too nice to pass up. If you like bb 10 as an OS you'll love the Z30 for the screen size.
