I've gotta stop putting my z30 into hoodie pockets.. anytime you move or bend over to pick something up my phone drops out - thank goodness for the BB Transform hardshell case! I dropped it 2 times yesterday and not a scratch etc.

I can also say mine was probably saved by Otterbox. It fell out of my hand, dropped on the edge and I literally saw it bounce back up from the hardwood floor. I never once dropped my Z10 but this one keeps getting close calls lol

Nice! I prefer the Commuter over the Defender series. The Defender scuffs up the device a good amount, or at least in my experience. The Commuter offers plenty of protection with a soft inner shell which won't scuff the device. I'm glad your Z30 is safe, OP!

Hmm, I have the defender and have not experienced any scuffs as you say.

Since the inside shell is hard plastic, over time, I'm sure you will experience scuffs. This has happened to my Droid Razr, and my grandpa's Curve 9330 along with his iPhone 5 now

Oh! Buddy of mine has a defender case on his iPhone 5 with no issues, so I got the defender for the z. But keep an eye on it, thanks.

I've had my defender series on my Z10 since day one (February of 2013) and it's great! Has saved my phone countless times but as everyone says "scuffs" yeah it has damaged the metal areas of my phone even worse than scratches
