I just bought the remote desktop app from BlackBerry World. I had no idea it needed to connect to a work computer. I hope I'm not the only one.....

Is there an app that does remote desktop for home PC's or do they simply lack the connectivity? If so, why don't they include the remote desktop capability for the home PC'S?

Remote Desktop for BlackBerry - RDP

It works fine connecting to Windows computers on a WiFi network at home, it doesn't have to be a PC at work.

Sounds more like you're not configuring the app and your Windows computer correctly.

If you have a "home" version of Windows it does not have the rdp service. Would need a professional version of Windows or Mac.

The developer himself told me that was the reason it didn't work. It was embarrassing.

Do you have it up and running on your device?

The developer probably assumed you have a home version of Windows OS. It works on any Windows computers that have RDP enabled. Some home versions of Windows don't have RDP.

Another suggestion is to try Blue TouchPad. It can control your media center PC like a generic Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. It works really well.

Sounds like your OS on your computer is a home edition, which does not support RDP. Best bet is something like Teamviewer, which utilizes a piece of software installed on your PC to make it accessible via your phone.

I haven't used Teamviewer, but I have used RDM+, which is similar. Teamviewer sounds like it is a good choice; I can attest that RDM+ works, but it is clunky.

The Amazon app store has worked with BlackBerry 10 since 10.2.1. I've downloaded several apps from Amazon, as well as Snap. Most apps work fine.

Use your head and don't install a bunch at one time. Install an app and run it for a day or two to see how it does.

A couple of people have told you that Teamviewer works fine. It's a free app, so I'd try it out and see for yourself.

Splashtop 2 Personal. It's found in the Amazon App Store, and it's free. Works flawless, and I use it for my laptop, and work computers. I down loaded from Snap, but again Amazon has it.

Correction, it's free in the same network. I think I had to purchase the ability for mobile. But I'm very happy with the experience.

But like mentioned above try the Teamviewer, it might be completely free.

If you are on 10.2.1.xxxx amazon app store is available. Just do a Web search for Amazon store apk. It will direct you to the official download. Download apk and install, then install teamviewer in phone and any computer you need access to.

I have been using it for awhile now. It works perfectly.

Yes, today is the last day so people, take advantage of this. There are 2 premium remote desktop apps in that list and they both have good reviews.

Splashtop is a native BB10/OS2.1 program. I can understand your reluctance to sideload android. I don't sideload android on my PlayBook but I have slowly done so on my Z30. I use it on my PlayBook. It's pricey but on sale right now.

Splashtop Remote Desktop HD - BlackBerry World

You have to install a client on the PC.

The android version is free today with the Amazon App Store sale. I use it on android, too.
