Just bought a Z30. The microphone works fine on phone calls but it doesn't work when recording sound or camera or any other app? I tried BBVE and same thing, won't record.
I wiped phone and still no recording sound.

Any idea what the problem is here??

What OS have you installed to the phone? Have you contacted your carrier to ask if its a hardware issue?

I tried 2 different 10.2.1 OS.. same problem. It's an unlocked phone, can't get help from the carrier.

They're not the same THOUGH. This is a recording problem Z30.
The other is a Z10 Microphone problem.
If you don't want to help, please don't waste my time.

Must be a hardware issue. I'm record video with my Z30 all the time and the sound is really good. It's very clear at concerts, where the Z10 would sound garbled.

4 microphones, really? That's good to know.
I brought it for repair and they said that the microphones are attached to the motherboard and I'd have to get a new phone replacement...

Crazy thing I just discovered, if I take a video horizontally, the sound works! But vertically, it doesn't. Any other app such as Voice Notes or Shazam for example do not work. So strange.

Very strange, and you've done the best thing, get another one that works like it should. Microphones apparently are 2 below volume buttons, one in the earpiece/speaker at the top and one at the bottom. Video is recorded in stereo.

Hey,

I did the software update and my microphone stopped working as well for videos and Apps like Parrot. Nothing worked until I tried your suggestion of video recording in landscape mode and it worked, Super weird but I really hope I don't have to replace my phone!
