I'm looking for a head unit to replace a Pioneer AppRadio2 that has been a real disappointment with my former Android phone and my brand new Z30. I'm looking for someone who can recommend a unit that works well with a Z30, preferably a double DIN device; ie bluetooth handsfree including phonebook and bluetooth audio streaming. Any ideas?

btw, the AppRadio unit doesn't work very well with any phone, not just my Z30. The Android AppRadio app sorta works on my Z30, but the music player can't access the song library and the app for the most part is unstable.

Incidentally, I have tried my Z30 with an older Pioneer AVH-3100BT and it works well for handsfree but this particular model doesn't have streaming audio so I'm looking for some ideas.

Check out the Kenwood DNN series. I use an old DNX model and it works well with all my BB10 phones, z10 and z30. The DNN series have streaming capabilities iirc. I'm actually looking to upgrade my head unit sometime this year and that's what I'm leaning towards

I have a JVC KD-R730BT. There is also a double din model (slightly different model number). It worked awesome with my 9900, and it works just as well with my Z30. Controls two phones, has bluetooth handsfree, phonebook, streaming, and USB flash drive, and full user configurable colour settings. It does everything I want it to.

As an aside, I got the single din unit on purpose. It replaced the stock double din stereo in my SUV, but I was able to get a single din adapter with storage tray. It provides an absolutely perfect place for me to store/charge my phone.

Thanks for the feedback. I have only used Pioneer units in the past so this was useful info.

Sandpiper did you ever buy something besides the Appradio 2? I'm looking into buying a 2DIN unit for my VW but I'm always apprehensive to spend too much money on a radio without a solid review in regards to hardware compatibility, which there is almost nothing for BB devices.

I have always used Kenwood double-din units as well in my Jeep. I've had a DDX512, DDX418, and now using a DDX770. I've never had a problem using them with my 9930, Z10, or Z30. Streaming, hands free, and sound quality have always been awesome and they're not super expensive. I personally think Kenwood makes the best head units for the price for using your BlackBerry with.

Update: I did switch my head unit to the Kenwood DNN 990. It works very well with my Z30. Hardly have any problems with connections, only once did I have to delete my phone and pair it again. Something went wrong with the radio and I had to reset and reprogram everything. Since then no problems. Pairs automatically and sounds great whether I'm talking on the phone or streaming music. I highly recommend the DNN990HD or any of the DNN series for use with our BlackBerrys

    Just tossing in my 2cents.

    I have a pioneer avh-8500
It also supports the "disappointing app radio"

It does bluetooth streaming very well. As well as clear phone calls and seemless access to your contacts and phone calls.

One thing it also has is an hdmi input on the back.

I have a micro to hdmi cable that I run to my phone and I can view my device screen on my deck.

It even brings the audio in over hdmi, and you can "blend" the hdmi audio over your existing sources (cd,radio, usb, etc). So if you have a gps app running you can hear the direction audio over your music.
