    Hey,

I couldn't find a physical Z30 in any shop. So what would you say which display is better? Z10 or Z30? I know that the display of the Z30 is bigger and that's an AMOLED but what's about brightness, resolution and colours?

    Thanks, De93

If I remember correctly the Z10 has a high PPI but don't quote me of that

The colours look more vibrant on the z30 but the z10 is a little sharper due to it being a smaller screen. Both are 720p.

Lol. Not mocking you , but you just reminded me of a little something people around here say when they get surprised.

    "Viste lo que dijo?"
    Which translates to
"Did you see what he said?"
    Cranks me up every time.

Played with one today. Colours in the Z30 are slightly over saturated as is normal with AMOLED and there is a slight jaggedness to icons due to the lower ppi. Overall Z10 is better quality wise

thanks, and what's about the brightness? I think the display of the Z10 is very bright and I can use it also in the bright sun. Is the display of the Z30 as bright as the z10?

Its odd how people dont complain about 1080p 32' tv only having 52ppi vs the 295 on the 5" z30 screen.

no, and at 10" away the 720p 5" screen is by no means pixelated or jaggy.

I'm all in for PPI doesn't matter, because even a 6in screen is super tiny..

But can't you really tell the difference? It's an honest question, no bashing

I don't think I could tell any discernable difference. The playbook only had 170 ppi and I thought the display was fine.

You really have to look hard to see discernable pixels in the icons, I think the real unspoken beauty is the contrast ratio.. with AMOLED, when that pixel shuts off... it is off, no back light is being "shuttered" as in LCD, resulting in pitch black blacks and vivid colours

if you put them right up to your face sure, you can notice it slightly. But during normal use they look exactly the same, except for the differences between lcd and super amoled.

Both are good. I have all BB10 devices and Z30 is a bit brighter and have more vivid colors than Z10.
I don't use the Z30 for daily use. When I played with it months ago I god the impression "It's just a bigger Z10", but having used it for some time now, I start to like the bigger display and the battery last significantly longer.

    Z30 Sound is also great.

I have not tested the antenna yet.

As I said previously if you know what you are looking for you can slightly see it on round icons like the browser for example . I never notice any jaggedness on my Z10 at any distance. I'm not saying it's a deal breaker at all but the screen is definitely a downgrade from the Z10 in terms of colour accuracy and sharpness. On the whole I still want the Z30 but I wish they would have stuck with an lcd as I find the over saturated colours on amoled very distracting no matter the phone manufacturer.

I think the Z10 is better in the bright sun and has greater dynamic contrast. Colour is great for movies on Z30 and screen is great on Z30. PPI difference at 5" is pretty much a non issue (I disagree with "jagged icons," but I have not put my magnifying glass to it). And for remote desktop and battery life 720p is better. The phone is fast with all video and the 1080p out to my 50" TV is just fine (maybe my next TV will have Miricast). I love both the Z10 and Z30, but I think will be mostly using the Z30. BB 10.2 has some great features and I love the big screen and still not too big to hold. But a couple of my apps are not yet available for 10.2.

And of course the PPI is greater on the Z10 as it has the same resolution over a smaller physical screen. But movies ARE better on the Z30. And the sound is a huge plus on the Z30, imo!

OK honest and unbiased opinion here I went to bell today with the intention of replacing my z10 with the z30 but luckily they had a full functional demo model that I played with for a bout 15 mins and I can attest that while the typing experience on the z30 was just phenomenal, the screen rez, brightness and vibrancy of the Z10 is superior to the Z30 all round icons on Z30 have jagged edges (browser and BlackBerry World icons) while on Z10 they are flawlessly round. Also Z10 is brighter and offers a more vibrant display. I didn't end up buying the Z30 because of the lower screen rez. Os performance and speed was identical (I'm running the latest 10.2 leak on my Z10). Of you currently own a Z10 you will certainly notice that the rez is lower, I personally noticed right away. All in all thoug it is a great device nonetheless

I guess that a personal opinion because I went to Telus, and compared my zed 10 side by side to the Z30, and I felt the screen was all around superior I set them side by side and set the brightness the same for both, very little difference better blacks with the 30 I feel the colours are richer and more vibrant on the 30 the Zed 10at full blast was painful to my eyes to look at and I've never had it higher than 30% on the 10. The sound of the 30 fantastic, and I did notice a speed difference now that I've had it a couple days love the real estate and the feel of the phone the 10 feels like a toy compared to the 30, the fit and finish is superior as well

To each there own I guess

Yes well, the Z30's screen is still excellent.

I just want BlackBerry to go beyond 1080 next time. To really give people no excuse to complain.

Thanks a lot for your differing opinions. Some people like the colours of an AMOLED some people prefer a LCD display. I think I'll wait for the official release of 10.2 for my great Z10 and have a look to the Z30 in 2014 .

If BlackBerry still makes handsets next year, they have no other choice than to go for 1080p anyhow.

I'll be interested to see the reactions of the people then...

Why I say that it's necessary next year?
Well, because pretty much everyone will use 1080p for higher-end phones.

    http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/14/m...windows-phone/
I have been saying it for months, that even MS will go there...
No excuses left for BlackBerry now.

For the price of the Z30, one should even expect a 1080p display right now...

Z30 rez is notably lower than the Z10 I don't know how you can say it's not noticeable . The z10 has even a higher rez than the iPhone 5s. I will end up buying it nonetheless to support BlackBerry like I always have but no sugar coating here about screen rez. I don't even think it's debatable. When I held the Z30 coming from the z10 it felt like picking up a PlayBook and using it after a long time of using the Z10.
