Hey everyone. I just got a new Z30, coming from a Z10. I'm aware of the AMOLED screen and the quirks associated with it, like the saturation and the dark gray looking purple when on low brightness. What I'm not so sure about is the purple ghosting I'm seeing when scrolling a list with black and dark gray, like in the music app.

I was wondering if some of you could do a short test for me? Open the music app and tap on an artist that has more than one album in your library. When you scroll up and down, you'll see the dark gray rectangle banner that has the album name and art in it. Whenever I scroll, I see a purple haze around the gray banner. This happens at any brightness, although the effect is lessened when it's at max.

Does anyone else see this? I'm thinking it's related to the AMOLED tech but didn't know if I should return it.

Inherent issue with Z30. Nothing you can do. I also have it.

You can easily see it especially in the forums. Slide up and down on the page quickly. Watch the grey overhead panels. See the purple tint?

Not seeing it here either.... I have however been accused of being color blind by my wife. Maybe that's why I'm not seeing it or its really not there. I choose to believe it's just not there. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Oh man, I totally forgot that cb10 on dark theme has the same effect :s

Well I never noticed until this thread. Place finger on this threads screen and move it up and down quickly while focusing on the grey headers. The upper and lower edges of the headers will ghost with a purple tint.
Again, never noticed it before...had the phone for a year and half.
Unless, I'm crazy?

I tried on music app, here on CB10 and others app's. Can't see anything at all, no shadows, no pink or gray colour, everything's normal.

No issues here either. I did notice though when you scroll up and down that the banner lags in relationship to the text, but thst is to make things move in a more dynamic way. Go ahead and return it, too much ocd.

It's a heck lot better on 10.3.2, but was all over the place on earlier versions.

Certainly not worth returning over...I have to consciously look for it to notice it. And, it's only on certain shades. No big deal.

Is it just the Z30? I just did the test on my Q10 and didn't see any purple hue. I'll have to test my Z30 out once my screen protector arrives.

Have noticed this since getting my Z30. It's gonna happen on all the Z30 screens. Have tested at least 6, all with same thing.

I've known this since the day I bought my device almost 1yr ago.. shouldn't be an issue and I definitely don't see it as hardware glitches.. the quality of videos I feel is far superior to that of an LCD imho therefore tend to appreciate those benefits.

If you lower your brightness all the way down during night time, you will definitely see the purple tint. Putting it next to a Z10 or Q10 you'll definitely see the difference.

The purple tint is showing up on the grey area.

It's really obvious if you have a Z10 around to compare. Launch the same android app on both devices and that first screen with a black to gray fade, on the Z30, it will look really purple.

They even soft fixed it on one of the 10.3.1 early versions but I don't think the fix carried over upon release.

Thanks for nothing OP! :-) I never noticed it before and now every gray box on CB is jarring purple.
