I've a new BlackBerry Z30. Which is only a month old but there are some issues with my volume keys. After a restart the keys work well and good for only a Day are two after that the issue I see is I have to reduce the volume point by single press for one unit. But after a restart I'll have to just press and hold it to reduce my volume. Does anyone had issue in this.?? Please do help.
    Thank you.

I just got a brand new Z30. The volume keys are a disappointment, they seem "loose".. they make a jiggle type of noise when I lay the phone on a flat surface or if I shake the phone. Sad because the volume rockers on other BlackBerry devices are flawless.

Do a look-up for the scotch tape fix we all did to stop the rattling.

Not ALL of us had to do that. Both of my Z30's were perfectly ok.

Wow I just did this and it works!

My volume keys were a bit loose too, and I used Scotch tape and they're all better.

A bit ghetto, yeah, but you can't see it from the outside!

How does my app make a problem with my volume keys.

It doesn't affect the actual volume switches themselves. What it does is affect the sensed button press duration. Rather the the normal press and hold to change the slider, you have to repeatedly press the button. This has happened to me with three different devices and the answer has always been to remove the conflicting app.

Same issue here and I don't know what causes the volume buttons to stop work when you hold them down.

Those threads appear to be discussing button looseness.

As I understand the OP's problem, it is an issue with depressing the key and the 'volume-notification-slider' advances one step and then dis-appears requiring further depressions to advance the 'slider' in either direction.

Here is one such post mentioning an app hooking into another process causing a conflict with the volume down button. http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...l#post12133737

I have read others on the same advancing issue. I had it happen to me on a few occasions, I just can't recall the offending application(s) right off hand.

This used to happen to me as well on my Z30. I would have to reboot the phone for it to correct itself. It would be fine for maybe 2 days and start acting up again. Even after a security wipe on the phone the problem persisted.

OMG, I just had a thought and turned off the music shortcuts and sure enough the vol buttons worked again when pushed and held down. * sigh*

You like that don't you? It's a case of thinking that it's a hardware issue when clearly the issue is a software conflict.

OK never mind, the keys don't work when pushing and holding down again so that was only just a temporary fix. It's just screwed!
