    Have an opportunity to purchase a pre production z30 which is marked x00 on the inside cover for a decent price.

    No software is loaded according to the seller. The phone is detected by Windows but the led light just flashes red.

    Seller claims it just needs the software os loaded and it should be good to go.

    I think a autoloader should be able to load the os in that case.

    Does anyone have any experience with the x00 model? Are they exactly the same as the production model z30? Any precautions I should know about before I waste money on this?

    He said he never tried to load any os on it.....and I don't think they would know how....

    Well, if they have a Windows computer all they need to do is download an Autoloader (2813 would be safe), about 2gigs, then hook up a usb cable and run the program. But if the phone is $10, you can take a chance!

    If it's the Verizon variant, other than a few different firmware modifications, my guess is that it's the same as a production model.

    It's slow as ****. Buy something that isn't 3 years old with 5+ year old hardware.

    For the camera, see the following thread. Low light photos may not be best but it depends on the situation. But in good, nice lighting, the camera is quite good:

    I would not buy it. I ended up with a RIM owned device that got PIN locked. Was hard to read the PROPERTY OF RIM on the sticker. It's a paper weight.
