Maybe I'm not understanding the issue that you are having but does using rotation lock not help?

If we use rotation lock it will remain in portrait mode, we can't lock the phone in landscape mode, that s the issue

Understand now, you're correct, it doesn't stay in landscape.

It would be nice if they come out with an option to able to lock landscape mode in video player it self like a setting in video player

You dont need the landscape lock. Just hold the phone with its top pointing downward. It will stay in landscape mode.

Why has no one made an app for this? The playbook supported both portrait and landscape lock but they didn't bring it over to bb10. Is it even possible to make an app that controls the gyro sensor?

This is a legitimate gripe. Quite frustrating.

Having said that, I rarely watch videos on my phone for more than a few minutes at a time. If I want to watch a video for more than 2-3 minutes, I use the "Play On" feature to project the video onto a bigger screen using Miracast. Not only does it lock the video in its proper landscape mode, it also allows you to use your phone for other things like checking messages while the video continues to play uninterrupted on the big screen.

This works so well, that I usually bring one of my Miracast adaptors with me on trips so I can use this feature in hotel rooms and meeting rooms where there's usually a TV that has an open hdmi input.

Does your phone get hot by using Miracast?

I used to play videos using HDMI cable to my TV, but phone became hot so I stopped doing that.

I haven't found it gets noticeably warmer. When I'm using Miracast, I usually plug my phone into a charger and blank the screen. So I'm grabbing the phone from time to time and early haven't noticed it getting warmer.

The picture is better using the hdmi cable but if you jiggle the wire, sometimes it cuts in and out. If the volume is high, the abrupt volume change can be a bit harsh. When I have used the hdmi cable, I didn't notice it making the phone warm.

I use Z30's hard shell case cover similar to Amzer Shellster Hard Shell Case w/ Holster for BlackBerry Z30 (shop.crackberry). We can rotate the belt clip and use it as a stand to hold the phone in portrait or landscape. Very sturdy, useful and it's not too bulky.

I sometimes use AVplayer to play videos the built in player may have trouble with. It seems to automatically stay in landscape mode no matter the orientation. This should address your issue.

There is an app named GoodPlayer in the BlackBerry AppWorld which I am using to watch movies. It stays in landscape mode even though your phone is locked in portrait mode. And you can also make the screen dimmer by just swiping down on the left side and control volume on the right side. Swipe left-right vice-versa to skip or repeat the scenes of the video.
