First, it is so shame to find the Viber on BB Z30 not free whereas in all other platform us free. Second, i am not being able to find most of the Applications that are present in another platform. Recently, my son's school send us their Application to download it for free to get the latest news about their school, this application could not be found in the Blackberry World. Moreover, it is called Blackberry World, thus it must cover most if the World App, i am in Lebanon an could not find the MTV and LBC news applications where i found them in another platform. To conclude, i think that this so- called smartphone is being made just for Canada

Viber is not out on bb platform yet...what you have is called 'app for viber' which is 3rd party app by an independent developer

apps availability is determined by the app owners or 3rd party developers...if you need LBC or MTV on BB platform...write to those companies to develop an app for the BB platform just the same way they did for other platforms...you can't blame that fully on BB....

    Welcome to the forums.

The app gap was a reality and a long known issue since BBOS 5. BB10 is a new platform, so really, are you just venting or this really is news to you?

I don't mean to sound sour, I am just surprised by your reaction.

Who's fault is it that the app isn't made for your phone?
you should ***** at the developers that make the app(s) instead of directing it at BlackBerry
    IMO anyways.

You could also try side loading the android app

Well it has been known BlackBerry World doesn't offer the massive apps selection both Android and iOS have to offer, it can't even really compete with Windows Phone. You'll need to get in touch with the companies and request them to create and support apps for BB10.

However you can also try to sideload Android apps, there are quite some tutorials around here. Best option would be installing the latest 10.2.1 software leak and one of those Android .apk stores, which let you search and install those apps in a simple way.

The app for viber "app" is a scam. It's just an app generator POS. Lots of people are getting suckered into purchasing it.cause that "app" is top grossing now. POS app generator...

I understand your predicament... but we have no choice... either you change the elephant to a rabbit so it can fit to the refrigerator or you change the refrigerator to a bigger size that can accommodate an elephant...

While the OP is obviously the troll, as a newcomer I must admit that the quality of the applications is rather poor compared to ios. I'm talking about twitter and what's app. Whatsapp isn't even localized and twitter is very glitchy when opening a tweet.

Honestly don't understand this app complaints. If you are a huge app user you should have got a device that supports that need.

Crying because your kids school news can't go on your phone? Boo hoo. Get a tablet or buy the right tool for your needs.

Always funny to see people get all sour because they were too lazy to do their research.

You can't blame blackberry for having less apps because it is about the developers wanting to make apps. They have a lot of apps just not nearly as many as the big two. Buy yourself an iPhone and join all the moms at your boys school. Good luck and good bye

    Dear Mark,
You have understand me wrong, and it is not a way to reply. To explain, the school has created an application so to get in touch with the latest news, where is the problem? Why it should be found in another platform and not on BB the latest version??? I know very well that this is the WORLD APPLICATION and should not be limited...

    Dear Walcolm
    Thank you for your reply.
As for the Viber that's fine, i got the answer.
However, as for the other news companies LBC and MTV i am not obliged to follow them and i am shame to tell them that on my Z30 i don' t have your applications, whereas those application are available on ALL platforms, so any explanation for that, or the BB world has become limited with narrow mind, now i understand why the iphone and the Samsung overtook the BB. It is so said really

The issue is not that Blackberry is preventing the app from being done for your Blackberry. The person that created the app did not do a Blackberry version.

In other words, the person through the school who wrote the app, probably only did the app for Apple phones and Androids.

If there's an Android app you'd like to use and it's a free app, you should try getting Snap loaded on your Z30 and load the Android app onto your phone to try it out.

BlackBerry World really needs to have an option to include Google Play apps in their search somehow. Maybe in future versions we'll have that capability built in. Until then, we have to settle for workarounds that the average user isn't going to waste time bothering with.

Honestly, if you feel you need certain Android apps that you can't find for Blackberry and you don't want the hassle of seeing if they are compatible with BB10, you should stay with Android. Particularly if those apps are paid apps, because Google has started encrypting apps, which means they are unusable on anything except the original device you installed them on (meaning you can't test them out on BB10 devices to see if they work). Sure, there might be hacked/cracked apps that may work, but do you really want to risk infecting your device with nefarious garbage? Also, at the moment there is usually no way to install paid-for apps from the Play Store (or any other app store) if the encryption factor is in play. Even without encryption, to install a paid-for app will involve some hoop jumping that you might not want to trouble yourself with. It's easy enough, but still a couple more steps involved than if you were using a native Android device.

Some (or if statistics can be believed, a good majority of Androiders - thus the recent drive on Google's part to implement encryption) may not care about robbing developers of their livelihood, I figure if I get honest use out of an app, the least I can do is pay the more-than-reasonable amount they are asking. In most cases it's practically peanuts. Unless it's an obvious hack effort to port it to BB10 to make an easy buck and bears the obvious remnants of its Android origin (especially if it's free for Android and not for BB10).. in that case, I have no conscience about going out of my way to install it without paying a dime.

Seriously, if you are a business person and your time is of value, just stick with an Android device if that platform has the apps you require.
