At the inlaws for a few weeks here. Tried watch movie from laptop to TV, but HDMI on my laptop doesn't do sound only video. After trying a bunch of things, remembered that my phone has an HDMI port. Copied 2gb movie over to phone, plugged it in, and movie played perfectly. 2 hour movie used about 15% of battery. A nice little BB10 story. Android would have had a dead battery halfway through, and iPhone would never allow you to copy a file over, play a non-apple format video, or use an open standard like mini HDMI.

I use my Z30 with hdmi when I visit family, I usually have around 30GB of video on my sd card.

That's a good story but I was just recently back home and my folks don't have Internet (now that's old school).

They also didn't have a modern TV with up to date inputs till us kids bought them a 50" LED to replace an aging 36" tube TV. Long story short, I hot spotted my parents home with my Z30 and hooked up my laptop through HDMI which was running Kodi. Boom instant streaming of any content I wanted. Since it's a work phone, I didn't have to worry about data with an unlimited plan.
