I'm with verizon (currently have a galaxy S4) and "while supplies last", i'm thinking real hard about swapping my S4 (and the wifes) for a pair of Z30's.

LOVE what I hear people say about the speakers; battery life; reception strength/call quality; qi wireless charging (verizon) and I LOOOOVE the OS. My main concern is gps/navigation.

I've done a bunch of searches and checked youtube and there's not a lot of info on just how good the MAPS app on z30 is...or whether or not it's been UPDATED with later OS updates. And lastly, with all the updates, how easy would it be to download google maps?

********UPDATE: Thanks so far to all that have replied. I pulled the trigger and order one Z30 for me to try out and show the wife and see how it goes. (have 14 days to return if we don't like). I really like the BB product and enjoy the forum on crackberry. I'll get the phone 9-24-15 and will have all weekend to play. Thanks for reading and look forward to doing more posting and even replying as time goes on.

i have a VZW Z30. The native maps app is plenty. You don't need to download google maps at all. I have never had an issue using the maps app.

As for the OS, its stable and easy to use!

For driving the native app is good enough. If you want to go by foot or bike Google maps does a lot better. I've got both of them installed and the Google maps app works great. Not too difficult to install to be honest.

Another good app is Navfree. The best thing with this app (which is free btw) is that the map is stored on the phone so it doesn't need data. It's helped me out a few times but the native BlackBerry maps have improved over time and seem to run well

And the gps in the phone works really well. I created this track of a hike today using Nogago Tracks (in bb World). I use Mireo Don't Panic along with BB Maps app. Mireo just came out with a new app today/yesterday. But their maps are not cheap.

But can they work in offline mode or 3G is mandatory. As in India you won't get connectivity in remote areas.

Try using it in Japan. Totally useless, got a pop-up box "Map data is currently unavailable for this country. " Tokyo is like a maze with all the little back streets and side alleys. No street names either. Switched to a Galaxy with Google maps to find my way around.

The BlackBerry Priv is looking like a good option.
