Much appreciated, and this one right here confirms, this was designed for AT&T and when AT&T chickened out and left the deal Blackberry never ordered more devices from the manufacturer.
Here is AT&T's bands, in case anyone is wondering:

Either AT&T was upset Verizon got the exclusive deal with undisclosed period of time or AT&T decided they won't be able to sell BB's anymore.
I still consider this a failure on BB's part, and a big one at that. Even if AT&T cancelled their orders BB should have simply used FCC approval, which they had in place, and start selling this to North American buyers only. Look how many people bought STA 100-3 from Verizon or STA 100-5 from random sellers online and use on AT&T. I wonder if AT&T did a sweep, how many Z30 users would pop up on their systems.

FishTire, would you mind telling us if you are with AT&T?

Well what is the latest from your carrier? That 10.2.1 is a later OS so it should be getting updates. At any point BB *could* kill it, as it is not supposed to be sold/traded/etc. Probably had a "Propery of Research in Motion" sticker on the back at some point.
    I hope that won't happen..

Scale, my friend. It would cost quite a bit to do a limited run. If they price them high accordingly, people may not buy. If they manufacture too many, they end up with another inventory write-down.

Telus I think. It's in one of the Signal screenshots.

Yes but it's asking for a contact email which I'd rather not provide.

I use multiple carriers. I'm in Canada but I roam in the USA weekly. So AT&T and T-Mobile too

I do and unfortunately it says my token expires in a few days. Hopefully that won't render the device useless.

If you guys use Autoloader, will that brick your evaluation units? The problem is, if it does, you will never be able to find the OS that would run on your -1 devices.

Well I have a Q10 -1 device which I think is pretty common no?

I use autoloader all the time and never had a problem with it

It's an app called Signal. Available in app world.

Unlike the Q10 -1, the Z30 -1 is not in commercial distribution.

Sorry, like Raino mentioned, I was referring to STA-100-1 (Z30)
So, when you used autoloader, it did not get rid of the token limitation and bug reporting sections? Since fishtire was concerned about his token about to expire, was wondering if autoloader would get rid of it, but I guess not.

Nope I installed a lot of leaks and it never removed that token thing and all... so that's why I'm looking for a way to remove it with the chrome extension or something...

I recently acquired (by trading a high end android) what appears to be an evaluation model BlackBerry X00 Z30 STA100-1

I'm curious if I'll get updates in the future or if I'll have to run leaks.

    It's currently running 10.2.1.2084

    Thanks for any info.

If you have a "not for resale" device you should ask BlackBerry if they are willing to trade you for a production Z30. I am sure John Chen would love to get his hands on it and sue bugger who thought they could sell it!

Because it's not economically viable to make "limited quantities" of a phone. How many people would pay an extra $100 for this model in order to make a run of, say, 20,000 phones viable?

Keep in mind that Z30 production ended 6 months ago, so it would require re-tooling a production line to make them. I'm sure the tooling exists, but the components would have to be ordered, and the machines would all have to be recalibrated with the new tooling before a production run can happen. That can take a production line down for at least several days, and that's expensive, and the cost would have to be borne by the device sales. Then there is the higher price of the components when purchased in small batches. Then you'd have printing costs and I'm sure a few other things. Add all that up, and $100 extra per phone, retail, is about right.

Just an update, I manually set the date beyond the token expiration to see what would happen. While the phone still works, the bug reporting features are now gone.
